Taxes Simplified

Turbo Tax is good enough for my CPA friends. It's cheaper for me to do my own taxes even considering the cost of the software. Turbo Tax is thorough and provides help screens throughout. It's easy to do pieces at a time, so you don't have to do it all at once. Plus, after you use it, you will know what kinds of documentation to keep for next year - which make the process even easier and helps minimize your taxes.
What's great about it: Don't have to do it all at one time. Don't have to worry about calculations.
What's not so great: Can't think of a negative

Turbo Tax Is Awesome!!!

I am a long time Turbo Tax user and let me tell you that it gets better and better every year. Thanks Intuit for making my tax preparation and submission easy.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is very user firendly, super easy to use, provides me my biggest tax return and gives me peice of mind.
What's not so great: absolutely none

Disapointed this year

I have used TurboTax (TT) for several years and have been a satisfied customer. However, this year I had two separate incidents occur while doing my taxes on TT that caused me a lot of stress and left me disappointed with TT.
First, I file jointly with my wife. We both work. Turbo Tax had an error out of the box that didn't add our federal withholdings (box 2 of W-2's) together correctly. This initially told me we owed an additional $14,000 of taxes. Obviously very upsetting. I did download an update that fixed this problem. However, in years past when I would start TT it would alert me if there were updates that I needed to download, this year it did not. TT needs to let users know that there are updates out there and it causes me concern that such a bad error was there to start with.
The second issue was my error. After resolving the issue above, TT was telling me that we still owed over $9k. After I went back over everything I realized that TT was calculating that we owed all of this in additional Medicare payments. This was because I had misplaced the decimal in box 5 when I entered my wife's w-2 info and basically reported that she had made 10x as much as she actually had. Now I realize that you cannot make TT "idiot-proof" and it was my error. But the error was so large and obvious since it was 10 times the amount in Box 1 and 3, that I would have expected TT to have flagged me that that number looked suspicious. Instead it just calculated an enormous bill for me as if nothing was wrong.
What's not so great: Turbo Tax had an error and I did too but Turbo Tax didn't alert me to it.

Error 1603 caused me a delay in getting my refund

Error 1603 caused me a delay in getting my refund. I worked many hours on my own trying to get Turbo Tax 2013 to install.
What's great about it: once fix was in place, process went smooth just like in previous 10+ years of using TurboTax

I've used Turbo Tax for 10+ years. Every year it seems to get easier and less stressful. It used to take me the better part of a day to complete my tax preparation. This year, I was done in less than three hours! What a time-saver! With Turbo Tax at my fingertips, I don't have to dread the onset of Tax Season! Well Done Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Made the whole Federal Tax process Simple, Easy, and Quick!
What's not so great: Not A One! Everything worked Great!
