I love that it's so user friendly and I have done my taxes every year on my own with it. I now know what to save for next year because of the questions it asks.
What's great about it: It states deductions in laymens terms
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Turbo tax is an amazing program that connects people to the government to file their taxes. Turbo tax makes it so simple to do it I offer to help my friends complete theirs also! Without turbo tax I would not be able to do this on my own. Thank you!
What's great about it: Easy walk through step by step
What's not so great: Reading legal jargon

NC State Return
on February 14, 2014

It was hard to understand the Long-term Care Insurance Credit. It took me a great deal of time to delve into the State return to a sufficient depth to satisfy myself that the NC Return was correctly prepared by TT. For 2012, it was not and that resulted in an audit. Both a deduction for the premium and a credit was incorrectly calculated. For 2013 it looks like that may have been corrected.

I have used Turbo Tax for several years now. I have always been satisfied with the program. It is up to date and asks many questions to make sure you are getting all the deductions coming to you.
What's great about it: Easy, step by step help. Painless!
What's not so great: Printing return

Turbotax Review

Would like to see more detail on what constitutes a charitable institution and the types of personal vehicle miles that can be deducted when one uses a personal vehicle for activities associated with that charity or institution.
What's great about it: Ease of use. Automatic transfer of information from prior year.
What's not so great: I sometimes have to answer questions (fill in ovals) after I have already filled them in once.

Maybe OK

I tried to claim my job interview expenses as a business. The amount I claimed did not exceed the minimum amount. I could not delete these forms. Turbo Tax help was not useful. I had to start a new 1040.
The new return I started did not find the tax I paid on 2012 in 2013. I had to enter the amount manually. There was insufficient room to type reason for the deduction.
Earlier versions of Turbo Tax printed Roll Over on IRA on form 1040 next to the distribution amount.
Not enough details in the calculations. I used an Excel Spreadsheet to track my medical expenses and charity contributions. The Turbo Tax work sheets did not include the cost for mile for use of a vehicle for charity purposes. You need to go the the government web sites to get these numbers.
What's great about it: It is relatively completes
What's not so great: Cannot delete unused forms. Inconsistant on occasions.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Max Refund As Advertised!
on February 14, 2014

Very happy with overall process, as usual, however when I decided not to eFile state refund, was very difficult to undo. Seems totally geared toward eFile on Fed and state. Rather disappointed with Turbo Tax in this regard.
What's great about it: Easy navigation through the process
What's not so great: A bit of trouble on the state refund. eFile rather pricey.
