A few curveballs

I completed my federal returns without a hitch. I included the 1099C forms I had received for the debt forgiveness from the short sale of our house. When it came to the State taxes, however, it included the forgiven debt as income when it shouldn't have. I had to manually go in and do some "fancy dancing" (as directed on their website) in order to have it removed from our State returns. The initial result was a $13,000 swing against us. When I finally fixed it, the numbers were correct, but they should have some way to account for this without all the rigamarole! My sympathies to those who wouldn't understand the mess-up or how to fix it!!
What's great about it: TurboTax walked me through every step in great detail....almost
What's not so great: VERY poor link between State & Fed re: short sales & debt forgiveness
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

I've used Turbo Tax for a lot of years and really find it easy to use and far less expensive than hiring someone to do our taxes. Thanks for the great product Intuit!
What's great about it: step by step guides and help whenever you need it

This will probably be the last time I pay to fill a state return with Turbo Tax due to the problems which means i might try another software package next year

Had to re-start 'puter.

I had to re-start my computer in order to "solve" the validation error I kept getting when I attempted to e-file the federal forms.
It stated the validation process did not work and I needed to download an available update. When I did the "Check For Updates",… it told me there were NONE available. I did this 6 or 8 times,… very frustrating!!
Re-started computer and everything went smoothly.
Don't know if this was a computer glitch on my Mac desktop or a TurboTax program glitch.
When all else fails,… unplug, wait a minute, plug back in, and restart.

Great report again

I could figure my return myself as I am an accountant, but, why when everything is done so easily with Turbo Tax and e-filing as well.
What's great about it: I have used TurboTax for years and tell everyone how great it is.

Still works good

Good program but system should have auto saved
What's great about it: straight forward on walking through system
What's not so great: Got to the end, went to check details of a form and it closed my file without saving...had to reenter data all over.
