The FUN in reFUNd!

Turbo Tax is easy to use, and easy to navigate. I can skip all the oddball tax laws that I know do not apply to my situation. I like that there are detailed explanations of the laws wherever I had questions.

Improve All Cases for Foreign Filers

TurboTax fully understands the morass of federal tax law, but did not actually give me the option that it should have.
I was a joint-married filer, and my spouse lived abroad (outside of U.S.) for nearly all the tax year. She was a non-resident alien (NRA), but did NOT have to file the NRA form BECAUSE she is married to a U.S. citizen. TurboTax understood this, but did not offer me Form 2555 for income exclusion (she pays heavy income tax for income in her tax home) even though we had been filing it for several years.
I had to find the Forms set up and go to the Form 2555 worksheet and ensure it was set up. A $514 tax due turned into a $1080 refund after I had excluded her income under Form 2555. Big difference!

What's not so great: Could Be Improved for Filers Living in Foreign Countries

Easy Refund

Turbo Tax is great as far as transferring info from previous years turbo Tax! I had to do a last minute update to finish my 1040.

Turbo Tax continues to make improvements that make the tax chore easy. The prompts are an excellent way to get through all the sections of the tax forms and the carry over of data, such as charitable contributions, makes the entire process simple.
