very disappointed

I am very disappointed. I have used TurboTax for the last 7 years and have been very happy with it until this year. I could not get it to process the electronic submission of my taxes which has always been my preferred method of submission. It kept saying I needed to download an update and each time I tried it would say there is no update but would not electronically submit because "need to download update" very frustrating!
What's great about it: qiuck and easy to use
What's not so great: would not process electronic refund despite following all directions
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

State Forms not Available!

Program stated I needed an update - so I updated the program. Program said state forms were ready and to click to download. I did. Still was not able to complete state taxes. Program not able to actually download. Not a clue. Changes in the program made navigating through some areas very difficult.

Overall the program worked good. my kids and myself all had alaska PFD's and it was hard to add them, the program wanted to add them under my return. however, i did end up figuring it out, only after hunting for it.
What's great about it: i really liked how it walked me through everything step by step
What's not so great: adding (or deciding if i needed to) file my childnre's Alaska PFD was hard, but it was figured out.

This was the very worst year ever for filing my tax with turbo-tax.
I made a simple mistake by filing an incorrect Pin *. I tried to correct this mistake at least six attempts with no success. How can I correct this situation because I sure need my refund. This is the primary reason for filing with Turbo-Tax.

Not So Pleased

Have been a long-time user of TurboTax. Have used a number of computer-based tax programs and have found TT to be generally the benchmark standard. However, this year was a different experience; the default formatting caused me to miss a single checkbox, which, in turn, meant filing a return which showed taxes due when, in fact, I should receive a refund. Now I'm going to have to file an amended return to correct the mess--a big hassle. Think I will try another program next year.
What's great about it: Like Q&A format--one reason I've used TT for the last 5 years
What's not so great: Default formatting caused a LOT of Trouble

I am so disappointed filing this year with turbo tax that I was ready to go let someone else do them. last year direction were easier to follow. this is my 3rd year doing them myself. As a matter of fact I can't figure out how to get back to my state taxes. don't know if they were filed with the federal or what.....
What's great about it: saved money
What's not so great: very difficult to do.

Good product except extra fees

I think Turbo tax should charge the fee to efile your state return when you purchase the product rather than when you go to file. Between this fee and the processing fee, and the cost of the original deluxe product, might as well pay someone to do it for you. Program itself is easy to use and guides you through all the categories in a friendly, easy to use manner.
What's great about it: Quick and easy to use.
What's not so great: Additional fee to efile state
