Been using TT for many years. The pros greatly outweigh any nit picking, but you wanted honesty…right? e-Filing for state seems unreasonable at half the price of what I paid for TurboTax. And because of that, I file the state forms by mail. The program is biased against filing by mail and if you're not careful, you'll forget to sign and date the form or enter the routing and checking account number for refunds.
I also fear that the popularity of TT has led to the demise of the IRS and states sending the hard copy forms to individuals. My father, now 91 still drives and is very active, but never joined the computer and internet culture. Short of driving to a federal building and collecting the forms, or going to a tax preparer (which he would never do), filing his income tax returns has become a challenge, which should not be the case for a citizen without a computer or doesn't want to pay to have his returns done.

What's great about it: Well designed and easy to use with confidence

You need to change the beginning once you start ur info so when u get done the first part and then go to the second part you don't have to scroll thru the hole list that you have already finished

I have yet to get the "free" State filing and i have been doing this since Turbo Tax hit the market. Of course there is always the last minute added cost for filing the return and bigger fees if you want Turbo Tax to stand by you for using thier product.
What's great about it: Fill in the blanks always easy

Easy and Thorough

This is an easy to use program regardless of whether you are a novice or a tax professional. The ability to move quickly between the step by step interview process and the actual tax forms makes review and data entry quite easy and facilities modifications when necessary.
What's great about it: Easy to use and covers al subjects thoroughly.
What's not so great: Initially was unable to have return validated but your representative had me reboot and the issue was resolved.

Just Like Tax Prep Services

I used TurboTax for years, but then decided to go to a tax prep service for the two years during my divorce. I went back to TurboTax this year because the tax prep service didn't do anything for me that TurboTax couldn't, and TurboTax is significantly less expensive. It's still very easy to understand and use, and the interview methodology is just like a tax prep service.
What's great about it: easy to understand and use, much less expensive than a tax prep service
What's not so great: none
