2013 Mom's Income Tax

I have used Turbo tax for years to complete my Mothers Income Tax and feel very confident that they have guided me correctly through the current tax codes. I highly recommend Turbo Tax!

Importing massive sale of securities data was smooth, and worked perfectly, to my astonishment. Saved me literally months of manual entry. And no more confusing ambiguity or uncertainty in instructions, which in past years has led to double entries of data and confusion. This was the smoothest, and by far the fastest TurboTax experience I've had yet.
What's great about it: Data Import, unambiguoous instructions

This was the hardest return. Questions were not totally clear and were interpreted wrong so I had to keep correcting entries. You need to ask clearer questions and give if situations to help make a decision. If you have this, do this. It is not giving tax info but helping to clear up misunderstandings.
You asked if I was a student. Answer is yes. But I am not a curriculum student. I take Continuing Education. For two years I filed the 8917 Tuition form because I didn't know that there was a difference. This year I put the tuition on my Scd C as it is related to my business.
You need to be clearer.

problems with software

Software included state return but your program wanted to charge again for the state return. Could not get past an option in the state return to split income as it would not accept the correct answer.

out of state taxes

Out of state tax information was incorrect on the out of state return. Tax return was not needed but because of zip code requirement I could not delete nor could I file by efile my federal tax return. I had to file by mail. I have paid for a state return I did not need and have paid for efile of two states I could not use. I would like a refund for these expenses.
I also cannot do this review without an incorrect nickname because my name is Ann without an e and not 4 letters

it would be wonderfull if there was a shorter version that required less time to perform all the required entries!
What's great about it: form explanation tips are key for time spent on deductions
What's not so great: some tax areas need simpler examples

Easy to use

Been using Turbo Tax for years! Will continue to do so. It's quick and easy and not expensive. I feel confident that my tax returns are correct.

I really like using Turbo Tax every year to file my taxes. I like the ease of entering, viewing my forms while in the program and seeing current status of refund or amount owed. I did have some confusion on entering the information for Form 8824 but called in and received really great assistance.
What's great about it: easy to enter
What's not so great: littlie confusing entrying info for form 8824
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments
