Good Tax Software

Easy to use. Steps you through the process effortlessly. Need to include electronic submission of state taxes in purchase price and not charge you at the end of the preparation.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Have to pay again for electronic submission of state taxes

2013 Tax Return Review

I noticed this year an easy approach to amend a tax return after filing that wasn't so easy to find last year (if it was even available).
Having information transfer forward from the prior year is also a big help in saving time at the keyboard.
The entire process took less than 2 hours, most of which was due to my need to create total expenses for each of my medical expense deductions based on the categories used in the tax law.
One thing that was not very clear last year was the instruction regarding purchase of a solar system. There was nothing stated to let you know if there is any difference depending on whether you purchased or leased. I happened to lease for 20 years and paid the entire amount in one year. It would be helpful to clarify what to do in such a situation.
What's great about it: Has been improved each year and is easy to use
What's not so great: Still have to pay for the state return if I want to e-file

turbotax is the bomb

I have used turbotax for the last 5 years and have found it to e easy and complete(it takes you threw a list of all possible deductions even rare ones!!). I had a chance to use the ask an expert part of turbo tax in 2011 for a tax question. I found the expert to be spot on with her advice. I could not be happier!!
What's great about it: the step by step deduction finder
What's not so great: the sales tax, state tax part of the program was a little confusing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I use TurboTax every year and it is the easiest tax preparation software I have ever used.

An area which was not clear. When asking for the PIN assigned to you, a number appeared. Is that the PIN from last year or the new one? ASSIGNED being past tense, made it confusing. I can only assume it maybe the one from 2012. So, I used the AGI.

Very good product

Generally, this product is easy to use. The help or look-up features could be improved. Looking up more information about a topic can be cumbersome.
Being able to e-file more than one federal return is a nice change this year.
Transferring data from last year's return is very helpful although it does not consistently allow you to see the supporting data from last year.
After making minor changes, some answers are remembered but there are still many questions in the section that have to be answered again. The NY State product is particularly bad in this regard. (How many times do I have to say I don't work in New York City?)
W4 for Pensions form is not available.
Being able to e-file more than one federal return is a nice change this year.

Great program

I have used Turbo-tax for years. I love having the It's Deductible option since I donate a lot of items. The program is so easy to use and I've never been audited.
What's great about it: I don't mind doing my taxes at all with Turbo-tax. And I know it's math is better than mine.
What's not so great: Had a little trouble e-filing.
