I've used Turbo Tax for years. It never has failed me and covered whatever tax situation I was in. As I have gotten older, my tax situations have become simpler and more straight forward, however, Turbo Tax covers everything I need.
What's great about it: Step by step for our situation
What's not so great: The "explain this" window was small, hard to read

Still easy and apparently thorough (how would I know really?). Did not see the mechanism for estimating the value of donations. It was very helpful to use the last couple of years. Please bring it back.

Good method to file
What's great about it: covers everyting
What's not so great: some of the help needed is outside the software
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

TurboTax for iMac

I've seen many negative reviews on TurboTax for the iMac but I took a chance and succeeded! I have the new 27" iMac desktop with 10.8.5 OS. Since I had a slow internet service at the time of my new iMac purchase I ordered the CD TurboTax instead of the download. The upload went smoothly but when I attempted to get the TurboTax updates it failed the first time. The next day I re-opened TurboTax and the updates went through. When i went to e-file I received an error that I had updates to accomplish which I had already done. I proceeded to save my return and exit TurboTax completely and rebooted my comuter. I reopened TurboTax and was able to e-file the second time around without further issues. For the most part TurboTax worked just like my previous Windows versions except for the issues I encountered above. I recommend this software!
What's great about it: Worked as proposed by intuit
What's not so great: Had to get out of Turbotax and back in to install updates & e-file
