almost always a winner

this years program was not as user friendly in the military retirement area, such as where to put the info in and when I thought I had it I had to second quess myself because when it transferred over to my state return it transferred as a public pension, so I still am not sure it is right and the answers that some of your people put out there as responses are to non committal. remember, you are working with amateurs here! we need pictures, drawings, and hand holding sometimes to get things done. you all created the program and know what you are talking about, so it is easy for you to just glide through what you are saying. we need step by step instructions. and when you say that you should indicate something on the screen, hello, it doesn't let you do that. it does it for you and you cant change it! so obviously we have entered it wrong or there is a programming error. I checked the federal return, I checked military pension. I just don't know where it went wrong...
What's great about it: usually easy to use
What's not so great: needs work in the military retirement area

E-Filing of State return Not allowed After Federal

I did my Federal return and E-filed two days prior to doing my State return. Upon trying to E-File my state return it stated it was not allowed AS IT MUST BE DONE AT SAME TIME AS FEDERAL E-FILE.. I did not see any prior notice stating this! Why?

I love using Turbo Tax. I like being able to do my taxes myself instead of using an accountant, but I like the security of the software taking care of all the calculations and checking for things I might miss. I also like that previous year info is already entered so it makes filing my taxes very simple.
What's great about it: Easy to follow; love that previous year info is already entered.

Last years was easier to follow. I had difficulty figuring out how to enter non-cash contributions for charities different from last year and accessing the program to compute value of the items.
Also difficulty figuring out where to put Medicare payment for husband..

It's a snap!!

Started doing my taxes with pencil in early 1970's, Switched to Turbo Tax. Worked doing taxes a couple of years ago and it wasn't as good as Turbo Tax. Quit them to come back.
What's great about it: Easy to use, great for getting last years info

Got something back that I didn't expect

Everything went well and we're getting back more than expected. It was easy, as usual. Importing data from Turbo Tax from the previous year makes things go much more quickly.
What's great about it: Checks all of your possible deductions
What's not so great: Not always sure on which form updated information goes so that you don't have to go through the dialog for changes
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Could not eFile

I tried several times to eFile, but it wouldn't go. As instructed, I checked for updates twice and it said I was up to date. As it said... when all else fails, mail it in.... which I did. I have used TurboTax for several years and in the past I have always been able to eFile.
What's great about it: GREAT for doing taxes
What's not so great: It would not let me eFile

Awesome and so easy to use!

would recommend to everyone- I looked at other programs and they didn't compare to the ease of using Turbo Tax
What's great about it: Walks you through every deduction!
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
