My worst year with TurboTax

I've used Turbotax exclusively for years, and always thought the government should REQUIRE people to use it. This year it FAILED me on the last day of my extension. Every time I launched it, it returned an error message, which I responded to. Each time I got the same result, which was another error message. Then I tried the repair tool, which I stumbled on while trying to find my way out of this mess. The repair tool launched Turbotax again, and gave me the same failure message. I then removed the program and reinstalled from the disk. This time it worked, but I spent some very anxious moments. Turbotax had saved my return file when I reinstalled, so I did not have to reenter my data. I was finally able to efile before the midnight deadline.
What's great about it: It covers the tax income and deductions well
What's not so great: It failed on the last day of my extension.

easy to prepare but the pin number process awful

have had problems two years in a row with the pin number not working - the program lets you choose an option without a pin number but that does not work either - one year I had to give up and file by mail - the problem may be on the IRS end but not being able to file electronically is a huge problem
What's great about it: last year figures come in automatically, easy to follow
What's not so great: the pin number filing doesn't work

I have used TurboTax from their first year. I wouldn't go anywhere else or use another tax program.
What's great about it: Easy, convenient, TRUST WORTHY

Almost Perfect

I wish Turbo Tax was able to string together multiple years, and not just the previous year. I've been using TurboTax since its inception and have all of the files on my computer. It would be nice if it could use all of those files and calculate things like prior depreciation, so that I don't have to spend so much time going back and looking things up. Floating calculations would be nice, so that you could preview the bottom line impact of deductions, to see if there is one and determine if you want to take the deduction or not, without having to enter it, and then decide to go back and change it. Maybe I'll try Quicken next year and see what that does to make it easier. I do notice and appreciate the improvements they make year to year. It keeps getting better.
What's great about it: Confident that it does everything a paid tax prep person would do.
What's not so great: You still have to go back to prior years manually to pull information.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easy!

It took me about 20 minutes to do my taxes. It was ridiculously easy and fast. I highly recommend TurboTax. I wouldn't use anything - or anyone - else.

By far my best tax experience

I have done my own taxes using excel (and even before excel) for 40 years. That has included small business, rental property, you-name it. My wife was using a tax service when we married. Turbotax has simplified the process ... saves me so much time and headache; compared to my wife's old tax service, it also saves us $$. I'm sold. Will never go back.
What's great about it: Turbotax is so well organized and intuitive. You can control the level of assistive info to suit your needs.
What's not so great: Not a con so much, but I like to keep and excel spreadsheet that I update every year with particulars and notes.

Minimized the Pain

The most painful part of filing taxes (other than owing a large sum of money) is collecting all the paperwork necessary to fill out all of the forms.
Once the unavoidable pain has been endured, the TurboTax guided me through the entire process of entering all of my data into the correct forms and fields. Despite how onerous our tax system has become, Turbo Tax simplified the tax filing process and spared me any additional pain.
What's great about it: Easy to follow step by step instructions
What's not so great: nothing I can think of
