Painful

it kept making my mortgage interest deduction go into the 'pay an individual for my mortgage line' I have an institution as I stated on the federal but the state kept coming up as individual. I tried to override but the review process kept bringing up errors. 4 times I did this return. final reloaded the software on a work pc and got it to go thru. no phone number to call for help. very very frustrating. I don't think I could go thru it again next year.
What's great about it: none this time, 3 years before ok, this time not good
What's not so great: it wouldn't match my state info to the federal

I have a lot of weird income items that I would have had no idea how to do and turbo tax made this a simple process. Answer a few questions, enter some amounts and presto, your return is ready to go. Thanks for simplifying the process.
What's great about it: Simple wizard to make sure you do everything in the world of the complex 1040.
What's not so great: none.

Terrible

I found that the changes to the software was unnecessarily difficult to use. It seems that every year you try to do us favors we don't need with negative results. Regarding my MA return, there was a terrible problem that I actually had to manually cross out a line and change the total. I had a $500 refund in 2012 which I elected to apply to 2013. Mass DOR applied it to back taxes owed. So in 2013, I didn't have a $500 carryover. i could not ramose it no matter what I tried. This is terrible.
What's great about it: Easy Entry
What's not so great: Completerly changed how Schedule c Was handled. Terrible
Pros: I moved

Step by Step to filing success

This method surely beats the old calculator, pencil, eraser, and grunt work. You ask the questions, and I fill in the answers. Then YOU, TurboTax, go to work. Perfect.
What's great about it: I really like the thorough questions asked by TurboTax. I answered the questions, and TurboTax did the work !
What's not so great: What's NOT to like??

Delete Incljusion of PA State Filing
on October 15, 2014

Received a helpful phone call from your customer service in response to my query. But lost my notes and could not easily delete the forms for PA. Handled it by merely not e-filing the PA forms. Just e-filed the Fed. 1040 materials. I like your Deluxe product very much.
What's great about it: All Aspects of Federal Filing and Your Instructions to a successful 1040 for 2013
What's not so great: Inability to obtain the process for deleting the PA state forms
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Saves time, builds confidence

As our returns have gotten complicated over the years, it is still pretty easy to get them done using TurboTax -- it saves time by doing all the math (which is very complicated with things like the AMT) and asking just enough questions to fill out the forms. If it weren't for all that money going to the IRS, it almost would be a pleasure!
What's great about it: Step by step guidance, but ability to skip back to particular details to update them
What's not so great: Limited keyboard shortcuts, couldn't keep charity list alphabetically sorted (it kept snapping back to order of entry)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
