This is a great way to do your taxes, hassle free! The program guides you step by step, and looks for all possible refunds. I have done Turbo Tax in the past, but always just rushed through it, because I was doing it so late in the year. This year, I took my time, read all their step by step instructions, and took off for more of my refunds, and received a much better outcome than in years past. Also, I like knowing that if I get audited, they are there to help. Thanks Turbo Tax

1098-T Section Not Good

Every 1098-T received so far from college (for our dependent) has NOT been correct. TT needs to allow for incorrect numbers on this form, as it is only a GUIDELINE and does not need to be used. Please breakdown the items (I had to itemize these on a separate hardcopy):
- Qualified Expenses, books billed from college $xx
- Tax Free Scholarships $xx
- Adjustments to drop/add classes after invoice $xx
- Allow for "3 month payment rule" into next semester
- Paid with loans $xx
- PARENTS Paid out of pocket $xx
- Allow for Am.Op. Tax credit to be deducted, then final adjusted qualified expense balance can be used for STUDENT TAX RETURN to apply their 529 disbursement so they can offset the amount and not get charged at 10% fed penalty. I had to go document fishing and manually add the offset amount in the "forms section" as there was NO prompt to add the amount.

It makes doing your taxes easier. Just hope you have all your supporting documents.
It would be nice to know what your standard deduction would be if you decide not to enter any of the deductions, thereby saving a lot of time.
What's great about it: Great for do it yourself
What's not so great: Some areas are not fully explained, if you need to do or not to do.

It did not transfer all of my info from previous year's tax forms as it has done in the past. Was not as happy with this product.

I've used Turbo Tax for over 10 years now. I've converted all my family and friends and everyone likes it alot. Way better/quicker than a CPA.
What's great about it: Quick, Easy and Guaranteed. It could not be better.
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Am not able to enter contributions to a church in Canada, as you do not allow use of Ontario (abrevation) or ZIP from Canada.
The past two years I have been unable to file a Michigan 1040-CR2 used by disabled veterans. I live on rental property but still pay property taxes on my mobil home. Prior to 2012 filing this was not a problem, and, I cannot correct my living status.
