Good But Still Room For Improvement

I've used Turbo-Tax for many years. It keeps improving. I understand they are trying to hit a moving target, the forms keep changing. MA bank interest need to be specially handled and T-T has a means for marking it, but I think it should be a red flag item. The software has copied in my previous year data, so when I'm inputting my 1099-INTs it should ask me if it's a MA bank interest statement. This would save me from having to go back when I've moved on to the state form. The MA state form was improved this year but is still lacking in background info. Most likely, I'll be using Turbo-Tax again next year.
What's great about it: Dialog was improved this year, even for the state return.
What's not so great: Info for state forms still lacking.

Helpful Questions

Helpful if you already know some things about taxes. I think I need to hire an accountant for next year's taxes.
What's great about it: Step by step questions are helpful
What's not so great: Some sections are confusion, like the mileage form, attempting to enter all the dividend and interest information, etc.

Was somewhat disappointed

For relatively simple returns, TurboTax works great, but not if you have complex issues. If you have complex returns, e.g. with K-1 returns, or trust returns, or ETF proceeds, there is just not enough help or explanation. It was just too difficult to figure out what it wanted me to enter. After I filled out everything that was on all my forms, it still asked for information that I had no idea how to find, so I had to improvise and am still not sure it's right! I think I'll use an accountant next year!
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Not enough help for complex issues

Completed but concerned…..

The black hole of the unfinished state return was distressing but I knew everything was complete and accurate. However, when I posed the question to Intuit support I was told: "The problem may be due to the way our program works on a Mac".
This left me wondering what other unusual circumstances or glitches might be present if using TurboTax for Mac.
I have used Quicken, Quickooks and TurboTax for more years than I can recall (since their inception) and was always very pleased until I moved from a Windows based PC to a Mac. Since I have no intention of ever going back to a PC I must look for an alternative product for Quicken. The Quickbooks product for Mac is excellent and far better than the Windows version. However, Quicken for Mac doesn't stand up to the quality I have come to expect from Intuit.
What's great about it: As always, TT worked well but with one exception
What's not so great: TT would not recognize that the NYS return had been finished. It kept returning to the "Let's finish your state return"

What's great about it: Good guidance through the process

Best Tax Preparation Software on the Market!

I have been using Turbo Tax Deluxe for over 10 years. This is absolutely the most user-friendly and thorough tax preparation software on the market. Congratulations to Intuit for really getting it right. I would not use any other tax preparation software and I constantly recommend it to others!
What's great about it: Intuitive, easy to use, very thorough. Does not allow you to miss anything.
What's not so great: None
