Used TT for 10+ years and it's worth every penny.
Major Pros:
1. Yearly, I learn new tax saving tips, programs, etc.
2. Ease of Electronic Filing and pluses like Audit Shield
3. Advantage of importing prior data
4. Ability to test various approaches that can be easily undone

What's great about it: Topics have expanding levels of detail based on user needs
What's not so great: Some State steps aren't obvious-didn't know to file St Ext after Fed Ext (add TT prompt)

I had to file an extension and request payment plan...all done with ease.
Filed extension because I was notified April 1st that I was being audited for 2012 return. Can't multi-task those taxes anymore! Used audit defense program & got situation resolved!
I don't think our tax code should be so complicated, but will continue to use & recommend TurboTax. Their product gets better every year.
What's great about it: audit defense works!

Pretty Good Workhorse

TurboTax has been a pretty good work horse for me, and my returns are fairly complex and extensive (50 pages filed plus broker statements, and 300 pages of filed plus TurboTax backup schedules and worksheets). Complex investments are a bit difficult, but that is probably to be expected; blame it on the IRS. Printing is a nuisance: several clicks to print a set of exhibits, and some of the drop-down input sections won't print that I can tell (I have to do a screenshot to capture them on paper#. The step-by-step has improved significantly over the past few years, so that I use it extensively #but not exclusively) now.
What's great about it: Fairly straightforward and well documented return
What's not so great: Printing

I work for several different entities, and as a subcontractor. Hence I have multiple 1040s, a 1099-C, a 1099-K and a myriad of expenses to be charged to each of them.
TurboTax keeps them straight!
I have been a happy (well, as happy as anyone can be when paying taxes) user for at least 7 years, and will continue!
What's great about it: Calculated my complex situation without a hiccup
What's not so great: Costs money (I would prefer to pay in garden weeds)

Nice, but could be even better

Like the product. I've been using it since the beginning. Two things it could do better.
It has all the info to completely fill out the RITA (Ohio) Form 37. Would be nice to have it integrated.
On AMT, when the program has the previous years' information, just determine the credit for us. Don't make us do the work with information already there.
