love doing my taxes now

Love turbo tax used another company and it was a disaster
What's great about it: makes it easy
What's not so great: the wait to see if accepted
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

First Time TT Let Me Down

This was the first time that Turbotax let me down - by not being able to handle IRS-required adjustments of foreign source qualified dividends on Form 1116. I spent a considerable amount of time deciphering the IRS instructions and making the required manual calculations. I'm sure just a few folks would need to do this, but it was a major disappointment this year to be stranded in this way.
What's great about it: Good User Interface. Easy to Maneuver within Program
What's not so great: Will not handle certain tax situations

Whew! I'm done.

Whew! This is the latest I ever filed, 10/10/14. My long time accountant kept making mistakes, and then I had to hunt and gather backup and explain to IRS. I am retired, so I decided this year to try Turbo Tax for about 15% of what I was paying the accountant. It took me more time, on several days to get it done, but I really think I got it all done right this time. We'll see, but for $45 more, I insured that someone would help me if the IRS did come back with questions. Next year, I will get on it earlier, and I am sure it will be less stressful.
What's great about it: Walked me thru each step
What's not so great: Took a while
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Just In Time

Honestly, When tax time came around I had just had surgery and was not even ready. I did what I could with the help of Turbo Tax, then requested an extension. Sat down this morning and picked up where I had left off, finished my returns and e-filed. with time to spare. Thank you Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: How simple does it have to get. I love Turbo Tax.
What's not so great: If you can read you can use Turbo Tax, there are no con's.

Long but relatively straighforward process

I am a US citizen living and working in the UK who has no tax to pay and no refund to receive. TurboTax was better this year in regards to those citizens living abroad i.e. was able to recognize that I did not need to do a state return. However, I think there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of being a bit more straightforward for those living abroad especially for those people whose income is mostly from abroad. For example, would be useful to ask from the beginning whether all income is abroad and guide us to totally separate questions rather than go through all that are in most cases not applicable.
What's great about it: Easy to use, step-by-step guide for someone who has no tax or refund
What's not so great: Lengthy, took several hours to complete

2013 Tax Return

I really like the coaching and direction TurboTax gives me when I get to my itemized deductions. If we've done a good job of saving sales receipts and documenting taxes paid, TurboTax rewards us with a quick recommendation to take the itemized sales tax deduction and compares that to the lesser standard deduction we would have otherwise settled for.
What's great about it: Ability to choose to take a detailed, studied approach on more complex items and "fly" through the simpler items.
