The state of IN found an error in the return where an estimated tax was inserted in the return. It just happen to be the same amount that was insert for my refund last year. There is no where in the return or the steps that I can find that number was used in the returned except for the refund amount that had to be reported.
What's great about it: I have used Turbo for years and fully trusted the math
What's not so great: This year not so good.

I like the ease but should have filed by mail like I always do because I thought I had efiled but it did not go out and now its over a month late.
What's great about it: walks me through very easily
What's not so great: somehow totally missed efile and it didn't go out in time
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have one admin profile on my computer and one "general family" profile. I've always installed TT on the family profile (the one that is open all the time...) and have never had a problem in the past (and I've used TT for a LONG time), This year I had issues updating and saving data. Said I didn't have admin privileges, but didn't give me the prompt to enter the admin password as before. In order to update, I had to log out and log back in as the admin, update, log out, and log back into the general profile. Never had to do that with previous versions of TT. Hassle!!!
What's great about it: Generally easy to navigate and use
What's not so great: admin problems

Overall I like TurboTax and have used for 20 years. One problem for me is that my wife's ordained clergy and the tax code for clergy is very complicated. Took me some time (years ago) to be sure TurboTax correctly handled her income and tax fee items. Still have to look closely to be sure. Otherwise, very easy to use
What's great about it: Handles my tax situation very well, but its not very complicated these days

I have to amend the Kentucky state returns for the last 3 years because of a TurboTax problem.

As a foreign resident, I have many unusual requirements for my filing. The TT Deluxe version handles the greater majority of them with ease. I feel really comfortable with most of the forms. However, complicated issues,, since they do not follow U.S. Law, cannot be completed as requested, and it causes some concern when the entries are repeatedly identified as an error.

What's great about it: Makes a complicated process relatively easy
What's not so great: for unusual situations, i.e. retirement payments or excluded income are difficult to follow

One of our kids lived with some family for 2013. We answered the questions the program asked about the other parent honestly. The father can't claim him, he didn't live with us and that there is a divorce decree stating the father can't claim him. Turbo Tax gave us credit as a dependent. However we went to file and it got denied because of a turbo tax software screw up. In the end we lost 1500. New wording is needed in the area concerning kids of a divorce.
What's not so great: we didn't claim 1 of our kids and TT gave us credit and wrong
