Generally, a great product with lots of features and easy to use. Could use a bit less self promoting and up selling.
What's great about it: Early look easy - decide if can delay filing; forms, etc., easy to use; remembers carryovers from year to year

Overall, my experience with Turbo Tax has been great through the years. It would be great if you had a free efile for 1 state included in your Fed + State versions.
What's great about it: Quick step by step process, kept track of items from prior year
What's not so great: Needs a little more RMD assistance. Should have 1 free efile for the state if you purchased that package.

Have been using forever. The carryforward of information from prior years is great. Easier this year to move between sections. Federal forms moved well. Illinois not as strong; had to amend 2012 because missed property tax credit.
What's great about it: flows pretty well; prompts good for federal; free efile
What's not so great: illinois not as strong; cost to efile state form

Decent, but not the delight it used to be...

Even though I've used TT (and previously its predecessor Mac-N-Tax) for MANY years (back to the 90's), every year it asks me about my IRA Basis (even though it clearly knows, and has that info from my prior return). It seems like it could be a bit "smarter" about how it asks me (i.e. have me "review" or "confirm" my prior data). I also seem to recall that one used to be able to "calculate" a sum of numbers for entry into most fields (without having to create a totally separate worksheet), if all you want to do is add up a few amounts that don't really need to have separate, dated, and explained entries. Now I have to use a separate calculator which seems silly when I'm already using a computer (even if I use it's calculator APP). There are other things that I think it should remember from the prior year too, that it could remind me of, such as: "Last year you chose to treat similar foreign tax payments as… (etc.)."
What's great about it: Time and Cost efficient way to do your taxes
What's not so great: Not as good as the Mac-N-Tax product I used before it was combined with Turbo-Tax

I have been using product for many years, it has improved a lot overtime. Would be very helpful if it could be purchased overseas. Even internet ordering does not allow this.
What's great about it: very easy to use, I especially like the feature of being able to go easily between "easy step" and the forms
What's not so great: cannot purchase product overseas

makes a scary chore a breeze year after year

I've been using this product for a number of years now and it just keeps getting better and better. I've used it for our family and it's definitely found deductions, oh the teen and college years, that I would not have when I did my own taxes. I wish I had starting using it sooner. I really appreciate that I can have last years data automatically moved into the new year. This year I didn't even have to enter my W-2. Everything I don't manually enter means fewer possible errors. I like that I can do multiple federal returns so I do ours, this year my Mom's and my daughter's. Using TurboTax makes me feel smart. When I'm done, I feel secure that everything is correct and in order.
One year I used the online service, I started the process, almost completed it and then didn't return to it for about a year. My data was no longer available when I went back and I felt sick about it. So I called support and they dug out the old data from a backup and sent it to me along with a free version of the software so I could complete the old year information. The support person stayed on the phone with me until it was up and working. My apologies for not following up specifically for that wonderful support person.
I can't say enough about this product. We had a family business a few years ago and I used the personal and business version and that was awesome also. Turbo Tax software has just made what used to be a horrible and scary chore a breeze. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Turbo Tax is simple, user friendly. and works to make sure you receive the most bang for your buck. I have not ever been disappointed with this purchase.
What's great about it: I have used turbo tax for the past 8 years! I have never had a problem!
What's not so great: I could get used to this!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
