Good Software, Couple Tweaks Would Be Nice

If I know that I'll be taking the standard deduction (90%of the time) ,it would help speed things up for me if there was a button at the bottom of the questions giving an option to skip all the deductions and credits questions.I'm sure if I were a little more savvy I could figure out how to skip that but I'm pretty certain most people are like me or even worse when it comes to this stuff. All in all, I love TurboTax!
P.S. Try to get Michigan on board with filing electronically for free. Last year we paid for this only to have them "select" our return for manual processing. So we paid for nothing and it took longer to get our refund than if we'd just mailed it in. :(
What's great about it: Easy to understand and use
What's not so great: N/A

Also TTax changed values when automatically loading from It's Deductible, with no explanation and your HELP screen searches took in far too much --1000's of answers, many of which seemed to have no bearing on my questions.
I like to enter/change some data on the forms instead of through all your 'help'. There seem to be too many underlying worksheets to allow this and it gets confused. If it's from some place else, give the location where change can be made.
What's great about it: Used it for several years satisfactorily.
What's not so great: Too many screens to move through to do some entries.

Great but issue carrying MA tax-exempt int
on April 30, 2014

Have used it for years but just realized after many years of filing that my MA muni bonds fund interest is being brought into state tax form as taxable. After 45 minutes on the phone, was told by a very attentive help desk person that I need to enter the information in "Other" category. Got fantastic assistance but this was much less than intuitive.
What's great about it: Easy to enter most data
What's not so great: Doesn't carry MA tax-exempt int to state forms

Too long & wordy, how about a Lite edition that only takes an hour or less to do based on prior return??
I could do without all the advertising & lists of what I've done already.
Go back to basics, OK?
What's great about it: Covers most everything
What's not so great: I didn't get to input my business miles on my new car

I had no problem filing my federal taxes, but I had a little difficulty filing my state taxes. My husband is active duty military and he is a resident of New Jersey. I am a Virginia resident so I have to create a dummy married filing separately tax return in order to file my Virginia return. And because I had to do a new return and then continue without transferring the data from my actual federal return, I end up having to input all the data again. It's a pain to have to do my taxes this way.
What's great about it: TurboTax makes is easy for anyone to file their own taxes without having to pay a lot of money to a tax professional
What's not so great: It can be confusing when you file married filing jointly, but you and your spouse are residents of different states

Most things worked... as usual, nothing's perfect

The CA-state option to split refund across two direct-deposit accounts DID NOT WORK properly for e-File *or* paper file; I needed to over-type the paper-form with correct numbers and add the second deposit account info, then paper filed... to get it right!
What's great about it: All but ONE critical thing worked just fine.
What's not so great: All but ONE critical thing worked just fine.
Pros: I moved
