On further reflection, I believe the main issues this year stemmed from the logic you built into the program which kept the areas I entered into that didn't really apply ... as if they did. Pretty huge programming mistake.

Use it every year, even if not perfect

As usual, an essential part of getting my taxes filed, allowing me to file for our family on my own.
Even after using Turbo Tax for years, there were a few points where it was unclear what to do (for example, whether to enter car registration deduction when also using the car for business, or whether to delete a form I had last year and may need next year but didn't get this year). There was a strange glitch this year on the CO state refund page where it asked about applying the refund to the next year, and the amount in the question didn't match the amount of the refund.
But my biggest complaint this year is that even though I e-filed the federal form last year, it didn't work this year. I tried three times, and downloaded updates again, but it wouldn't validate, and there was no clue given as to why or what to do about it, other than to file by mail if the problem persisted, which I finally did. I still don't know what the matter was.
I remember the days of handwritten tax forms without software, and Turbo Tax is such a convenience, but there are still places where it could work better or where instructions could be more clear.
What's great about it: Couldn't file my own taxes without it
What's not so great: Couldn't e-file this time, don't know why

Tax Preperation

Turbo Tax software had problems updated and not allowing to file. I was persistent and review all update concerns on line and found out how to get it to update.
To the average person, some of the question that seem to be added each year to section (mortgage points) are hard to decipher what the question is asking. I had to look it up. More guidance added to the question might help...
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is very easy process
What's not so great: Updates not working properly/questions can be clearer

Quick and easy!

I've used turbo tax every year for more than a decade. Never had any significant issues. This year seemed to go even quicker than normal. Other than the additional charge to e-file state I have no complaints.
What's great about it: Software was fast and not very complicated.
What's not so great: Additional fee to e-file state

Overall a great program. Keepts getting easier every year. Would and have recommended it to a lot of people over the years.. Thanks for all the helpful info along the way!
What's great about it: Easy to use program. Questions answered in boxes were great. Best program on the market!
What's not so great: Need a direct button for instant print out instead of having to go through a pdf file you had to save first.

It much easier than I expected!

I plan to use turbo tax from now on! I feel more confident and have time to run and look for papers or receipts that might be need, while doing my return at my own pace and at home.
What's great about it: I liked the recommendations and walk thru.
