this software has been helping me a lot for years, the accountants that I have used in the past are substandards compared to thios software. thanks turbo
What's great about it: easy to use, I am glad I have been using this software for years

Bad crashes and not much help

We got severely delayed because of the crashes that we experienced with the MAC deluxe 2013 version. The problem is not fixed and there is no real information on how to deal with it.
What's great about it: It is an ok product
What's not so great: Crashes constantly, it is expensive and no real support for the crashes

Would like a preview of deductions and types of contributions before process to make sure I have everything lined up before I have to actually process.
What's great about it: Gave explanations along the way.
What's not so great: Ease of incorporating W2 & prior info.

7 minutes late filing due to lengthy check-out

filed 7 min late due to lengthy checkout!!!! I had to go back & make an additional adjustment & because of this time consuming check-out process, I ended up having my returns/payments officially sent at 12:07am 4/16/2014! Major suggestion is to have all this credit/account info asked & filled in at the beginning of the tax return & at the end ask to confirm payment and/or acct info where to deposit refund if any. I may be penalized because of this. NOT a happy camper!
What's great about it: like the step by step process
What's not so great: lengthy check-out process; cannot print current pages that I was working on
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Slick as a Tax Man's Whistle !!

After years of practice, the Good people at Intuit have got a great product for doing the dirty work .. as clean as can be.
The only ones more faster than Turbo Tax at liquidating my funds are ... The U.S. Government - IRS !
What's great about it: Loved the thorough, yet intuitive questions to guide me.
What's not so great: Still comes up short for actually 'paying' my taxes ...

Poor functioning Form 2441

Form 2441 provides an option to explain why an EIN and/or SSN is not available, yet didn't allow me to transmit using just the rationale vs. an EIN and/or SSN. I had to delete the entry from my return in order to transmit.
Very disappointed. Other than this item, satisfied. BUT, not allowing me to transmit when rationale was present is a huge miss by the software development, QA and Business Analyst teams.
I did not capture an image, but just prior to transmitting, the program did a final check and highlighted the missing numbers again despite the rationale being present and within the character limitations.
What's not so great: Form 2441

Disappointed and MAD!

I have used Turbo Tax to prepare my taxes for at least the last 10 years. This year started out the same as other years. The software made it easy to enter my information and it was accurate. I have breezed through the error check and the review and my return is ready to go! Then comes April 15th, 8:00 p.m. at night and I'm ready to e-File. The software would not let me! I clicked the "File a Return" button and I am transferred to a website. The website (E-file Your Federal Return for FREE) asks "How do you want to file?"...BUT there is no where anywhere on this screen to make a selection! There is absolutely no way to make a selection!!! Where is your "customer service?" Ergo...no way at all to e-File!!! After trying everything I could think of to get the software to let me e-File, I gave up, printed a copy and had to scramble to a post office that stayed open late. I am so very disappointed in Turbo Tax. You took what should have been a very easy situation and turned my night into a nightmare. I will NEVER purchase this software again.
What's great about it: Accuracy and Easy
What's not so great: Wouldn't E-File
