Encountered one problem which I will call about tomorrow. Paid my electronic filing fee for filing the state along with the federal and then it would not validate and kept spitting it out causing me to have to file manually and be 1 day late.
What's great about it: very easy to use

Got it Done

As usual Turbo Tax did not disappoint me. Taxes were done in time for filing. The program would be even better if W-2's and 1099's could be scanned and imported for state returns.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Child support paid to the state
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Software glitches
on April 15, 2014

I use TT each year. this year the software worked well until today. I encountered two separate software issues that elevated my annoyance. While downloading the state forms the program crashed and would not run. Then i had to jump through hoops to transmit the efile.
What's great about it: Easy to use, efficient, and effective program.
What's not so great: Jumped through hoops to work around software glitches

Crashes at critical times!

TTAX Crashes on Vista. Right when it's time to file, it crashes! And all of the data is lost. TTAX used to auto-save the file but not any more. So when it crashes, you lose your work. BEWARE. SAVE (your file) EARLY AND SAVE (your file) OFTEN!
What's not so great: Crashes when nearing completion

Saved my butt. Wife has been asking me to finish doing taxes for last four months. Down to final day and using Turbo I was able to complete taxes in less than three hours. You Go TURBO.
What's great about it: quick, thorough, how to file taxes for dummies
What's not so great: Wouldn't be writing this if all taxes were repealed

Excellent Program

This program is takes me step-by-step through the whole process quickly. It imports my information from the previous year's program and works perfectly to get the maximum deductions for both the federal and state. I use the Deluxe edition with the included state download. If your employer has an import code this program will download your W-2 information directly from your employer. I love this program.
What's great about it: Easy, Quick and Thorough
What's not so great: None

Always painless filing...but

For couples like us who have absolutely no changes in deductions, exemptions, foreign incomes etc.etc. there should be an option at the end of entering W2 data that allows you to skip the same steps we have to skip manually every year.
What's great about it: ease of use
What's not so great: needs a minor tweak...
