I'm a 20 year user of Turbo Tax and.............

TurboTax keeps me up-to-date- with the whims of Washington. And that is a big relief. They simplify a needlessly complex issue. And they help tremendously in keeping the numbers added correctly. I am a mostly satisfied user. Except....for
In 2010 I received an IRS letter stating I owed lots of money for not reporting all of my SS income for 2008. My fault entirely, but I had entered it correctly once but had to go back and change it twice thru out that years process. My fault again. But TT (Turbo Tax) is not friendly the second time thru it and especially not the third time. If there was a little check entry of totals in the SS entry section it would have caught my omission the third time thru it. But it was my fault for assuming TT was covering for a mistake like that. For example all my other entries were correct and indicated far too much withholding and Medicare payments for the amount of income I showed.
Second time 2013, when because there was little help with the PIN numbers I neglected to use the one I got for Identity Theft from the IRS. So my first filing was rejected. Lets hope the second goes thru.
I realize my comments are overly critical and I don't mean them to be. I only mention them because maybe TT might look into what I'm trying to explain and maybe fix it for someone else in next years offering. Cause for sure I'll be back. God willing...
What's great about it: I always itemize and TurboTax makes it a lot easier, especially when you return the following year.
What's not so great: Two years weve had mistakes......not good

Like the Program but Hate the Extra Fees

TurboTax makes filing taxes easier by navigating the user through each step. It also does an admirable job collating the previous year's data. So why do I think TurboTax earns only three stars instead of five? Although I expected extra fees from Intuit (sorry, but your company has that reputation), there were two fees I did not expect, having bought the Deluxe version, which advertises as including state taxes and e-file. Yet, Intuit charged extra fees for those services when I was nearly finished (and had no chance to go back to the beginning). Sorry, Intuit. You have a great product. It's one I would recommend highly. However, to earn those five stars, you company will need to make changes to its business model; stating any extra fees up front would help.
What's great about it: Walks you through every step
What's not so great: There are many extra fees I thought came with the software

Turbo Bingo

I have used 4 different tax softwares , but have stuck with turbotax for last 6 years . I am very pleased and will use it again next year !
What's great about it: Great layout and helpful guides / easy to use !
What's not so great: High price for states / different price on web than disc .

I no longer have a choice to print what I want!

It used to be that I could choose not to print pages I did not wish to store, e.g., thank you letter and worksheets, as well as more than one "File by mail Instructions."
It used to be that I could go back and make changes WITHOUT CREATING AN AMENDED RETURN, when I wanted to print a copy and think about it. Now I'm forced to create a PDF file and then I CAN NO LONGER MAKE ANY CHANGES!!
Totally unacceptable. I will leave Turbo Tax and save all that time I tried to go in the back door as a viewer suggested to check off amended return. Instead, I will do my own without Turbo Tax and save the time and aggravation.
What's great about it: O. K. for those who never filed without tax software and need guidance.
What's not so great: My choice to print whatever pages I want to keep have been taken away.

TurboTax is the best!

Have used TurboTax for many years. It is absolutely the best! Very easy to use. E-file is terrific. Have never had a problem with TurboTax whether I've e-filed or not. I will continue to use TurboTax---every year!
What's great about it: Very easy to use, walks you through everything.
What's not so great: None.

I have been using Turbo Tax for a couple of years now and really find it very user friendly. It takes the stress out of Tax time and gives me peace of mind knowing that it is correct. Great job with asking the right questions.
