My Horrible Problems with Turbo Tax (first time in

I had a number of problems:
1. Forgot to take out my IRA RMD. Got help. Form to fill out with explanation came up. Filled it out. Could NEVE go back to that form to modify my entries.
2. Did tax return for my significant other. Tried to save it. It was lost - I cannot find it on my computer.
3. I have used Turbotax for years. It has always been great. This year - it has been a mess. I will try something else next year - and tell my friends the details of my experience.

Tried and True

I like the transportability of the files. My brother and I have shared responsibility of filing my elderly Mother's tax return. He can do it one year and I can do it the next by simply e-mailing a file to one another. A real blessing for families.
What's great about it: Always like the convenience of transfer of information from previous years of turbotax filings. Makes it easy to do.
What's not so great: Consistently have errors for Schedule E Worksheet. Pain to complete and never correct.

After Many Years

Each time I went to change one figure in my business expense I had to answer all the other questions that hadn't changed before I could get to the item.
I still print and mail my state return because, for some reason, you want to charge to e-file that portion of the return.
What's great about it: Simple, straight foreward, easy to navigate.
What's not so great: Quick Drill down difficult

Under Pressure

It saved me a lot of time because I waited to the last minute to file.
What's great about it: I was able to figure out how to use it on my own.
What's not so great: No Cons..because it had a happy ending.

Stretched ... to find the the numbers connections

Our lives have not changed, yet credits and expenses when compared to the past year could not be replicated. It got to the point of not asking, just do it to move on. The process does quite well, just do not ask how we got there.
What's great about it: It does the job!
What's not so great: Ask questions about numbers and cannot find the basis for the number.

Makes a bad thing, Good

I'd have to say for over 10 years, TT has been the only way I'd want to do my taxes. If I had them professionally done, I'd still purchase TT and double-check to make sure everything possible was addressed!

e-filing my refund

filling out the requested information was easy and understandable, but e-filing was very challenging when you think that you have done all that is necessary to be done. It would not allow e-filing until an up date was performed. I had to do three updates and just turn off the system until the next day.
Turbo tax should have all of the states that are not required for state tax filing instead of a few.
