Have used Turbo Tax for about 3 years now and every time I feel glad at saving time, money and not having to share my private infromation with other persons who may not be careful or sometimes repeat your information in a loud voice in places where anyone may eavesdrop. And Turbo Tax is very inexpensive, and helps make easier something that it is very complicated.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good Software -- but still room for improvement

Great software. However, the interview could provide better clarity around certain items such as writing off Job-search related expenses. I finally found it (I think) but it could be incorporated better in the interview structure. Additionally, software completely confused me when I tried to select an installment plan to pay taxes. the vouchers that it printed in the tax return was completely difference from what I selected ($50/month versus $355/month) and I still don't know exactly how to fix this. Guess I'll need to contact IRS to re-set installment plan. Software needs to handle and/or explain this better. Also, need better help system. What about online chat? And another thing..... when you first go into TurboTax.com, it virtually corners you into purchasing the completely online version of the software (no download#. THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANT. I WANT TO DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE AND THEN DO MY TAXES!!!!! MAKE IT EASIER FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME TO FIND WHAT VERSION OF SOFTWARE NEED AND MOVE ON. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
FINALLY, QUIT INCREASING THE PRICE!
FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS, IT HAS GONE UP $10+ PER YEAR. IF THIS CONTINUES, I WILL BE FORCED TO FIND ALTERNATIVE METHODS #ALTERNATIVE, CHEAPER SOFTWARE)
What's great about it: Great interview strucuture to walk through taxes
What's not so great: Still a few areas where more clarity is needed

Why not make it so that you can print federal or state returns as well as specific forms without having to page through thumbnail of returns to find the pages you want to print?

Where are things?

Where are the payment vouchers for the 2014 federal return? You do haves them for the state returm, but not the IRS! Where can you talk about instructed people not to put in the date for retirement income if it is not an annuity. If you date it by the time you retire, you can get problems for years because it is not made clear what you can and should do with that date that makes it annuity. It has give me problems for years as it is picked up by the next year. Where can you tell people how to access forms from the easy step windows? Where can you go to print a window that is not printable as a standard form, but you would like to print it anyway to remember to go back to it like you can when you flag something? J. B. Adams III

This is the first year I had to pay taxes. Besides paying for TurboTax, and taxes, I didn't expect to pay an additional fee for using my credit card. Like kicking a person when they are down and already owe money. Also charging for state filing is wrong. I've been using TurboTax for years, but each year I become a little more disillusioned. Don't know how much longer I'll use your product, especially as I now have less deductions. Nothing I can't do on my own.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've had a lot of problems using Turbo Tax on my Mac running 10.9.2.
= no forms visible = education deduction or credit optimizer box wouldn't stay checked = had to manually enter some W2 stuff multiple times
What's great about it: Good step by step guidance
What's not so great: Clunky on the mac
