very helpful for those with complicated income and deductions, but for some senior taxpayor with no income and little deductions it leaves you at end as if you did something wrong. if you had zero taxable income and near zero deductions, you will have to mail you 1040 form to the irs.
What's great about it: it works for someone with lots deductions
What's not so great: for someone only on ssi and no retirement income it makes you go to post office

2013 TurboTax Deluxe sloppier this year

Having used TurboTax for 5 years, I was most frustrated by the 2013 version, in comparison to the 10star-versions of the past. This year, if I changed one thing and wanted to see if it made changes elsewhere, or wanted to review something I had already filled out, TurboTax didn't let me skip things I had already done, but instead all radio buttons were again blank and I had to fill out all options again.
A great (read: "terrible") example of this was the automobile registration tax. As I tried to review the information I put in, it asked me every single time if my Honda Civic was a boat or other recreational vehicle. I had already clicked the radio button, and just wanted to check the dollar value, but had to click through endless redundant (inane) questions that I had willingly and happily answered the first time.
When I click the update button on a section I have already completed, I would like EVERYTHING I had already entered to come up as the default selection, NOT just the dollar amount.

What's great about it: So easy! I love TurboTax

TurboTax Makes Filing Easier

Turbo Tax is a helpful program when filing taxes. There are so many confusing terms and tax details. Turbo Tax explains whenever possible, making filing easier. We like the ease and security of e-filing, instead of mailing everything out and hoping it gets to its destination. Thank you.
What's great about it: Helpful information and tips; E-filing
What's not so great: The software is pricey, especially when we don't get credit for it on our taxes.

Great Tax Tool

Overall a very good tool. Easy to use, provides good help and explanations for income and expense items. Ability to flip from survey to form views most helpful.
What's great about it: Very thorough in covering income and deduction items. Downloading payroll and brokerage saved lots of time
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Don't be fooled by other Tax software, NOTHING compares. Turbo Tax....quite simply....THE BEST!!
