Made taxes easy to do but not painless, payment is always painful.

What's not so great: Problem with IRS accepting electronicaly file.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Sometimes new is not better

I appreciate the need to make things simpler from year to year, but the previous years allowed me to select a form number and go directly to that form for editing and reviewing. I couldn't find that feature this year so it was a constant walk through all of the tutorials to edit information or update the return as I completed my returns for the year.
What's great about it: completeness
What's not so great: Cumbersome editing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

Easy Tax Return
on April 15, 2014

I found that this Turbo tax deluxe was much easier than the H&R Block product used previously. Once the initial data was put in, I found that the program asked the right questions and did most of the work for me. Most especially with the State return. Had a little trouble navigating through the site, when trying to jump into specific areas. This could have been due to the fact that we started our tax preparation late and didn't have the luxury of time to be able to fully explore the site before and during the tax preparation process. We will definitely use this again next year.
What's great about it: less data input, the program does most of the work.
What's not so great: as a first time user, got a little confused navigating the site.
Pros: I moved

If you are anything like me, you hate digging through years of filed returns to respond to IRS letters and audits. Over the past two tax seasons I had the privilege of selection to their rank of correspondence campaign candidates. A barrage of inquiries, disputes, suggested corrections, delays and warnings all due to a retirement form format not recognized by Turbo Tax. This year, fully prepared to submit additional documentation of support from my adviser: I was thrilled to see the modifications needed to import and classify my certificates and stocks sold "at PAR" automatically. This year's return was completed quickly and efficiently. Thank you Turbo Tax for your consistent product update and improvement measures to make the tax reporting process easier to bear.
What's great about it: Updated to address past issues with tough deductions.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have used TurboTax since it used to be called something else. I will continue to use it until the government doesn't require me to pay taxes.
What's great about it: Easy, accurate, and user-friendly; keeps getting better each year.
What's not so great: None

Very Good

The CA state has a selection to auto (I hope) send the refund to the state in the amount of the est. tax (i.e., the tax amount of this year in my case)
I HOPE that this means that the amount is recalculated as the tax changes.
The fed return should do the same -- instead I have to tell how much the fed should keep.
ALSO in CA: The order seems a little strange, the question of how much of the return should go to the state occurs -before- the box to click indicating send the amount of the est tax.
What's great about it: works well
What's not so great: Fed withholding does not do an auto refund to Next years est tax

I Don't See How You Do It!

Admittedly, I have complicated taxes which include investments in publically traded Master Limited Partnerships (MLP's). Turbo Tax makes it a lot easier. I couldn't begin to figure out MLP taxes manually but the MLP section could be more detailed or flexible. Every Schedule K-1 from the different companies is very, very different from each other. Most of the time, they are reporting numbers on attached "statements" with many, many numbers presented. In most cases, Turbo Tax is looking for one number for any particular field code. As Turbo Tax probably has to be more boiler plate in it's MLP entry fields, I would still rather have a colonoscopy than enter the data from 7 MLP's, even with Turbo Tax like I had this year. Downloading data is not much help--all my MLP's have incomplete data downloads and some don't even offer the option to download. Since incomplete, I just enter it all manually and what a pain! Turbo Tax is outstanding--the best! But I still have to do a lot of work and guessing on what to enter for MLP's. Thanks for a great, great product.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is Great. The tax code is so complex that I could never get through it without Turbo Tax.
What's not so great: MLP's Section Needs Work
