2013 tax return

See above.
What's great about it: Clear and easy to use. Caculations were quick and easy to follow. The questions were clear and lead me easily through .
What's not so great: More information needs to be imported from previous returns so information does not need to be reentered.

Very simple and easy to understand!! Anyone that can read can file with this program!! Great buy!!
What's great about it: Almost dummy proof! No reason to go to a tax preparer!!
What's not so great: None!!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Suggested Deductions by Occupation

I am a teacher and my wife is a nurse. I had to search the internet for suggested deductions for our occupations. It would be helpful for your program to automatically suggest common deductions available by occupation.
Also, a mutual fund I sold in my joint brokerage account showed up as a liquidation of a 529 plan on my state return. I could not figure out how it happened or how to change it.
What's great about it: Importing Data
What's not so great: Help finding deductions

very user friendly and easy to follow. error check and review is an excellent feature.
Have the program do most of the work is a great help, makes doing your own taxes with confidence!!

What's great about it: walks through and explains just about every step of filling out tax forms
What's not so great: was not clear how to transfer my return from online to CD version, had to search through FAQs to find the info

how did i end up having to pay for TT Plus at the end. Delux didn't come with a free fed filing??? Then it didn't pro-rate my Plus purchase because i'd bought the Deluxe. I thought there were 5 free fed filings in TT !

Excellent product

I have used TurboTax for about 8 years now......as long as you can keep your receipts, W-2, and so forth organized, TurboTax just walks you through the process.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: None

Overall it works, but has significant flaws

I've used TT for many years, usually found problems, but could override or find some way to fix the errors. This year, it was significantly worse. Some questions were misleading at best - insisting, for example, that an RMD must be taken from a defined benefit retirement plan distribution. It also insisted those payments were "not common".
Copying the interest entered in Federal schedule B to State schedule B created two entires, doubling the amount.
I could not compare schedule A to what I'd entered since the program decided that the standard was better. Since it didn't use schedule A, it was not available to display.
The promises of 'guaranteed maximum return" and "guarantted accuracy" were a joke because of the errors.
