Love TurboTax

I have used other Tax software and TurboTax is by far the best.

Piece of cake!

I had my friend prepare my taxes for several years. He's a tax attorney. Primarily did so because of mutual funds etc. More complicated than I wanted to handle. I no longer have that type of taxable account, and fell short of time this year so I decided to try Turbo Tax. It was a piece of cake. No stress other than the fact that we owed a pretty good chuck of change. Not your fault. Anyway thank you for making it painless.

NOT HAPPY

The system rigidly refused my sales tax figures, and I was unable to deduct sales tax on several large items. I live in a community within two counties, and different rates. The rates in Hot Springs are even more different, and Little Rock is different still. I can't go with one fixed rate.

Need more information

I would like for Turbo tax to give me information about if I qualify (or what the threshold is) for certain deductions. Things like healthcare or business expenses that are based on your AGI. Otherwise, TT just asks for a lot of information that you have to dig up thru your records and it gives you no indication ahead of time how much expense (2% AGI or whatever) you would need to enter before you even qualify for any deduction. Unless you already know the tax code and therefore what these limits are, it's a huge time waster.
What's great about it: ask lots of questions
What's not so great: Doesn't tell you what info is useful
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall very good as always
What's great about it: Consistent year to year. Always a similar look and feel
What's not so great: Note clear when Deluxe is not enough and I need to go to Premier

difficulty

I have used Turbo Tax since 2010 but was unable to log on using my user name and password to use the stored information. I wasn't even able to get online to check this information. As a result of this frustration, I purchased new software Turbo Tax Deluxe Federal for the year 2013 to process my return. This forced me to manually enter much of my information which would have beed stored in the 2012 filing.
Hopefully, I will not have to repeat this process next year.
