Quick and Easy

I would recommend Turbo Tax to all of those that want to be able to file their taxes by themselves. It is quick and easy. More affordable than going to other Tax Offices to have taxes done.
What's great about it: Easy to use

So far, so good...

Yes, pro snapshot is the same as con snapshot.
The con part is that doing taxes with TurboTax is usually a 12-15 hour six-coffee-cup marathon, even with Quicken providing most of the record-keeping that is needed. Invariably I end up switching back and forth between Forms mode, Step-by-Step mode, multiple Quicken searches and reports, and several Excel spreadsheets.
The pro part is that I never run into any serious problems getting from start to finish, both federal and multiple states when needed, and I feel confident that my low audit risk score is correct. In fact IRS did challenge me once when I did two rollovers the same year, but I had acceptable supporting documentation to pass that audit.
Bottom line: It's hard, but I've gotten used to it and there's no way I'd attempt some other brand. Like the song goes, "I'm happy to be stuck with you."
What's great about it: Pretty consistent experience year-over-year

Good experience

I have been using Turbo Tax for several years, It is easy to use and leads you through the forms in a logical manner. I did have one problem. I am retired and collecting a NYS retirement benefit, This is not taxable in NY. However I did have to go back to the federal form and change some information so it appeared as non-taxable on my NY return. The same thing happened last year. It looks like it is taking the wrong default somewhere for this income.
What's great about it: Easy to use.
What's not so great: I had to correct the taxability of my retirement income for the state return

Makes the pain of filing taxes bearable

I have been using TurboTax for years and they keep making it easier and more user friendly. Nobody likes filing taxes but TurboTax makes it at least bearable and easy to keep records electronically.
What's great about it: ease of calculating the impact of different scenarios
What's not so great: Having to pay to file state tax return electronically

Problems Filing NY State Taxes

I've been using Turbo tax for years and it has been great. This year, however, it would not e-file my NY taxes! Very inconvenient. It asked for additional info on my 1099-R from box 12a. I supplied it. (It was a $0.00) and it still would not e-file but told me to mail it! Aaaargh!

What's not so great: Did not e-file my state taxes!

Makes Life Simple

I tried H&R Block but came right back. I find Turbo Tax so much easier to use. I've used Turbo Tax for maybe 15 years or more, all but the one year I let someone talk me into trying H&R Block software. I'm often tempted to try something else because of the high cost of the software each year, wish you did yearly updates for loyal customers at a reduced rated, but you are tried and true so I keep coming back.
What's great about it: Always Easy
What's not so great: Don't have any
