this is a second review. I discovered something new when doing my son's return. I was able to load at least some of last years data from the .pdf of his return i had saved on another machine and reloaded to this new pc. I should have pursued that a little further when I did our joint return.
What's great about it: ease of use, thoroughness

generally easy to deal with sections I've done before ... like medical and donation deductibles, property taxes, pensions, retirement income.
one area continues to throw me .. the myriad of questions dealing with various year's payments/refunds made in different years. eg 2012 taxes paid in 2013 blah, blah, blah... clear that federal and state rules dictate the questions , and you do the best you can, but this series of question always feels more confusing and painful than necessary.
investments ... I have an advisor/broker who handles, don't think I would have managed on my own this year if I had to use the printed forms received to answer all the questions you would have to ask . I was only saved by your ability to retrieve this info from the the institution and map it appropriately to tax forms.
I finished all questions and reviews but apparently missed or did not correctly answer question/s re applying my refund to estimated taxes for 2014. The real problem is that I couldn't go back and find any question I could edit to change the option..... as a result, even though I would have liked to apply my refund to est'd taxes I wasn't able to .... and I wasn't certain enough of possible effects to go directly into the forms to make the change. .... yes I know I could have asked for help but it is 4/15 .. too late for me.
What's great about it: retrieving financial info from respective institutions
What's not so great: still felt I guessed at about 6 - 10 questions .. (re investments, interest, dividends)
Pros: I bought or sold investments

May be intimidating for some, but after the first use you will not turn back. Very informative about tax breaks you can use for the next year due to lack of knowledge tor the current year with the right way to go about it.
What's great about it: LESS STRESSFUL
What's not so great: MUST HAVE PATIENCE TO READ INFORMATION
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall, the wizards are very user-friendly. However, if you're not an accountant or tax-preparer it sometimes is a challenge understand the different tax deductions and credits; you can still miss some things.
What's great about it: Wizards are user-friendly
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Software software there is no solution

The IRS rejected the return 4 times saying I was not putting in 5 digit ID numbers for my wife and myself. I inserted the same ones I used to E-file in 2012, and each time it came back that I left them out.
So much for e-file. snail mail would have been fine 4 days ago instead of now dealing with the crowd at the post office.
What's great about it: Process was fine for the most part
What's not so great: I was rejected 4 times for not putting in the the ID #'s when I did
