Peace of Mind

I very much appreciate the approach that Turbotax takes to this process. You literally think of everything to ask, and things are presented simply and thoroughly. Hooray!
What's great about it: Very thorough and stress reducing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Informative and Easy to Use

I enjoyed (!) the guided tour and the recommendations made throughout my experience. I particularly liked the running total of my tax refund (or amount due) at the top.
My only misstep was when my state requested the total value of my IRA's. I went looking for documents that would give me that information while I felt a slowly rising panic twisting my bowels. I would recommend that TurboTax point me to Form 5498 for the information.
Otherwise, it was a great experience! I've used TurboTax for a number of years and I highly recommend it to my friends and colleagues.
What's great about it: It stepped me through everything
What's not so great: Could've told me that I needed Form 5498

Rough around the edges

My problems: it was not well explained why my 529 plan redemption was included as income, which threw me over the threshold to then denied me tuition deductions and education credits, despite having (I think) deducation expenses in excess of the redemption. The program also insisted I report our 1090Q under one student when in fact it covered the amounts for two students because the payments were made to a single account holder. Also, we donated a car and it was unclear which boxes to check to get the program to recognize the deduction. Finally, I had to reenter my vehicle information three times before it "took" and I was no longer being flagged in the review for missing information. Thanks for the support for submitting my payment plan request.
What's great about it: Straightforward returns done clearly and cleanly
What's not so great: Some situations are poorly explained and supported
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Bad experience with Turbo Tax
on April 15, 2014

I visited the Check updates five times and every time I couldn't get past the Validation phase, forcing me to mail in hard copy forms AFTER i'd paid CO to email the forms. So that's more money I'll probably NEVER see again. Bugs! Get out the BUGS!
What's great about it: Quick and thororugh
What's not so great: Validation repeatedly failed and the Colorado demanded money for efiling.

Excellent guides for each of the tax elements, ease of moving back or forward to review and make changes when needed. This is a totally user friendly program. When it comes to state taxes, one state e-transmission is not enough, especially when more federal e-transmission are allowed. Also, extra charges for a second state are not acceptable. I will look for other less expensive tax preparation options next year.
What's great about it: Easy to use and helpful guides
What's not so great: Extra TT charges for state taxes
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax is great for any homeowner who itemizes deductions. Also good for self-employed individuals who pay their own health insurance premiums.
What's great about it: easy to compare previous year's info while working on current return
What's not so great: I know you guys dumb down the info, but please continue to simplify the language!
Pros: I bought or sold investments

From Daunting to Done

This is our 5th year using Turbo Tax to prepare our returns. I cannot remember why filing taxes was ever stressful. We choose to let the program guide us through the process, and after a short question and answer/entry session the taxes are done. The review and audit likelihood rating provide additional peace of mind. This year we took advantage of the free e-file option for the federal return, and that was simple as well; in the past it was a challenge for us. Using Turbo Tax has become a spring tradition for us.
What's great about it: The choice of guided assistance or do it myself. The ability to import deductions from It's Deductible.
What's not so great: The piecemeal pricing for the individual elements (Fed, additional state, e-File).

Makes Paying Da Man Relatively Angst Free!

TurboTax makes the barefoot stroll down the sharp cobble road that is tax time almost bearable. It makes it so easy to prepare, check, and file your taxes that it feels like cheating. Of course, cheating may not be the best choice of words right now...
What's great about it: Ease of Use
What's not so great: Had to break up with Tax Prep service girlfriend.
