I may hve to rethink TTax for next year

I have been using TT for years! Lets just say at least 8 to be fair. I know tax laws change, but the not so easy method which TT tax takes the user through the tax filing has been getting more and more difficult to navigate, with each successive year.
What happened the view of the tax form you were working on when going thorough the interview? What happened with the easy menu on the top of the screen, to find what you want. And for goodness sake why if you purchase the disk, doesn't your help section clarify if the same instructions can be used for those with a disk? every time I clicked help I was taken on line and all answers were directed to the online version which is slightly different than the disk. There are still some of us who prefer to purchase the software?
It took me nearly an hour to find a form which needed to be deleted. Among other frustrating experiences I encountered along the way. This year by far, I have spent more time doing my taxes then in any other year previously. That's just obsured! I could have paid someone and had less angst, and spent the day doing something more productive! When you consider I had less income, the same business deductions, and far less personal deductions overall, it should not have taken me longer than the typical 4 hours it used to take. In fact it took me 12! That's just plain nuts!!!
If I had a problem I can only imagine how frustrating this years taxes must have been for someone who doesn't normally use TT.
What's great about it: Pros are begining to decrease with each year I use this
What's not so great: They are on the upswing!

Good, until we tried to pay to file our returns

We bought the Deluxe edition. We filed 3 different tax returns with it. Every return went fine until we tried to pay for the e-file. On each person's return we were told there was a problem with our credit card and we were told we had to call customer service. I can understand if this happens once and a while, but this happened on EVERY RETURN we tried to e-file.
What's great about it: Very easy to use.
What's not so great: It would not take our payment information when we tried to pay for our e-file.

Payment Options Need Improvement

I have used TurboTax for the past 15 years and have found the program helpful and easy. Unfortunately, this year we had a large unexpected payment and needed to split the amount between our credit cards. TurboTax does not have that option, so we had to use an outside payment company that charged an additional percentage of the amount owed. Giving consumers the ability to split methods of payment would improve the experience.
What's great about it: Program is easy to use.
What's not so great: Program does not allow splitting payment between credit cards.

always happy with any refund

very easy, especially if you only have 1 w2, 2 1099's, 2 vehicle registration fee's, and mortgage interest to input. a little overwhelming when using it for the first time, but gets easier every year you use it afterwards...
What's great about it: very easy when you only have less than 10 numbers to enter

Step-by-Step - Almost

I have used TurboTax for years, & enjoy it. This year, it skipped much of my Schedule C for no apparent reason. I even went back to see if I had skipped a step. This hop-skip-n-jump caused me to purchase the Audit Defense for the first time.
Because I have previous years' forms archived, I can look back to see what I have done without having to paw through paper files.
Overall, I am satisfied.
I would suggest improvements. TurboTax should automatically enter its list price. I always forget to save that receipt for use the following year.

What's great about it: Easy to walk through. Reminds me of the forms I forgot to collect.
What's not so great: Totally skipped the car deduction.

Procrastination Rescue

I have been using Turbo tax for 15 years, hasn't let me down yet. I will continue to use it. I have recommended it to other family members, they like it too.

Reliable, consistent, easy software

I have used this software for almost 10 years now. I really appreciate that it shows me what I claimed for previous years, so I can make sure I don't miss anything. It also knows the changes in tax laws, so I don't have to read all the fine print... It calculates and compares to determine whether I qualify for credits, and makes it easy for me.
What's great about it: transfers info year to year, compare to last year and reminds me of papers I need to find, easy to get around inside
What's not so great: Have to pay for state efile
Pros: I bought or sold investments
