Dependable & consistent

TurboTax puts my mind at ease by using simple to follow steps and the ability to edit and ask for further assistance throughout the entire process through e-filing. Thank you, TurboTax.
What's great about it: TurboTax is the way to go - thank you for the excellent help!
What's not so great: There are no negatives at all with TurboTax - it ROCKS

Great on Federal, not sure states

Turbo Tax has always amazed me with excellent results on Federal returns. Unfortunately, the state tax returns are often riddled with errors. Over the years I have had to pay fines to states I lived in because of errors caused by Turbo Tax. This year (2013) was no exception. Just after starting my Pennsylvania return, I noticed that the info from my Federal form is imported with errors.
What's great about it: Excellent on Federal Return
What's not so great: State Returns Often Inaccurate/Frustrating
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Disappointed

I don't understand why my Federal tax due did not change when I entered the amount of home mortgage interest I paid.
I was set at $480 due to pay the Federal and when I entered almost $4,000 in home mortgage interest paid there was no change. I have asked the community what's up? but have received no reply so far. Very disappointed this year. May have to find another way to file in the future.

What's great about it: I've used Turbo Tax for several years without a problem.
What's not so great: This year I got no reduction in tax due even thought I had a large home mortgage interest payment

Very good

Don't like seeing the surprise charges at the end for paying for deducting e-file charge from refund.
What's great about it: Fairly simple to complete
What's not so great: Not crazy about the gimmicks of stating free State or E-file, but pay for one or the other.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Always easy and reliable

I've used TurboTax since it came out on the market - that would make it.... 20 years maybe??? Always easy, consistent, and starting from previous year's data helps me make certain I don't miss anything. And the usual changes are always identified in the 'interview' - kids growing up, etc. Always recommend Turbo Tax to everyone who ever asks.....

This is good for a professsional. However, if you are filing for your son or daughter who has very minimal things since all he (or she) has is one W2 form and not in a tax bracket, it asks too many IRRELEVANT questions like AMT and what not ! Are you kidding ? One does not even have to pay taxes and it is asking all kinds of stupid questions. I'm sure that the software can be much more intelligent. It did not even file 540EZ. Instead, it chose 540 ! Bummer ! I think lot of improvements can be made in this area

Overall excellent product

I've used this product year after year. When I had especially completed returns I hired a CPA AND used TurboTax, and the extra savings my CPA got me were actually less than the cost of the CPA over TurboTax.
What's great about it: Ease of use, completeness
What's not so great: Hard to do what if scenarios
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good Solid Program

I trust the algorithm and I am happy with the data entry panels. I do look at the actual return forms.
What's great about it: Does returns very well.
What's not so great: Turbo Tax does little to train the young people on how taxes and tax returns work.
