Charged twice for e-file

Schedule C problems

The Schedule C was awkward to use. Every time I had to revise it, I had to start from the beginning. It would be useful to break it into several sections
1) 1099 income
2) 1099 payments of sub contractors
3) Auto Expenses
4) business expenses
1) 1099 income

4) business expenses
In addition, it did not remember some of the selections from the previous entry and I had to make them again.
You also should have a worksheet that will itimize payments to sub-contractors for which a 1099 form was issued and payments to temporary helpers for which a 1099 form was not issued.
What's not so great: Schedule C was awkward

Easy Filing

I found Turbo Tax very easy to use. I just answered the questions and was able to track my refund status throughout.

I have used the program now for the past several years and it proves to be beneficial with being able to do it myself. Would gladly recommend it to anyone. It's easy.
What's great about it: Loved how the program takes you right through all the prompts.

Much harder to use this year

I was disappointed with the product this year after using it for at least 10 years. The extra work to enter all the mutual fund information as the download only worked for part and the entering was quite cumbersome. Also the state portion was hard to use. Plus, this is the first time that I had difficulties with submission. Not sure what the Turbo Tax situation was. Also, the state of MN took Turbo Tax off its list of accepted software for a while. This year it was a much more difficult process. Also, the cost of submitting the state tax was much more expensive than it has been in the past. My daughter's return was a lot less.
What's great about it: I could do it myself
What's not so great: Took a lot longer this year and the submission had problems

If a person filing the return indicates the person passed away, the rest of the form should be addressed to the person filing the taxes as a representative of the dead person. I am doing my dads taxes for the last time, and the questions you ask, refer to him as if he is still alive. Fix this. This was hard enough, doing my dads taxes for the first time and the last time.
What's great about it: So appreciate handling dividends and 1099 B form
What's not so great: Does not handle doing a return for a parent who passed away well, you refer to the person as if they are alive. ng
