What's not so great: Not as easier as earlier versions
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I took out my city and zip code then put it back 3 times. Review of worksheet needs improving. Electronic filing? Check if it is allowed BEFORE paying for it.
What's not so great: electronic filing mess

Relaxed Refund!
on April 14, 2014

Overall, this tax program will be what I will always use. It was helpful and insightful and didn't take up large amounts of my time. I also didn't break the bank getting this program that helped me save on my income tax returns!
What's great about it: Simple, detailed, stress-free
What's not so great: organization
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easier than doing it manually

Really good software. However they could improve help. For example asking me if I have any 129 or 719 deductions or something like that, I have no clue what a 129 or 719 is, please put a link or drop down so we can know what this is and that we don't have it. Also AMT directions were way more complex this time. I still wasn't sure after I went through it if I had to do it or not. Supposedly I didn't have to pay AMT, but the questions can be really cryptic. Suggestion is you do a focus group on the forms and pick people WITHOUT tax backgrounds and see if they know what the heck you are talking about when you put a prompt out there asking a question.
Turbo tax is really good and I plan to use it next year again for the 15th time, but if you can have some people go through the prompts and make sure someone who is not a tax guru can understand what you want or what a form is you reference like do you have any 719 ---- what the heck is that???? I figured since I had no idea what that form was, I didn't have any. I don't remember if 719 was the question asked, but that was one of the prompts, do you have any NNN?
So sometimes you do need to link to the IRS.gov to check on what the IRS really wants at times to know if you need to do a form or not.
What's great about it: Provides links for help - good program
What's not so great: Sometimes the links for help are assuming you are already a tax person, please keep it simple and don't assume we know

A fast, accurate and secure method of preparing the annual task. Its no longer the painful trial and error event that hung over us like a dark cloud as April approached! It even provided both of us the opportunity to learn and understand what we didn't really understand in years past. The ability to have past returns at our finger tips is a GREAT benefit!
What's great about it: Simple easy to follow instructions
What's not so great: none worth mentioning

I like the "What's this or explain this" field because sometimes I do not understand what something is asking or pertaining to for that item. I am not sure why it does not prompt you for last years state tax refund when you are entering income on the "easy route". I thought the same thing last year and had to go back to a more detailed area to actually enter the state refund. I knew I had to enter it somewhere as income.
What's great about it: walks you through it
