GREAT WAY TO DO MY TAXES
on April 14, 2014

I HAVE USED TURBO TAX FOR MANY YEARS. I STARTED IN THE MID 1980'S. EACH YEAR THE DATA IS EASIER TO ENTER. I LIKE THE WAY I CAN GET ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON AN ITEM THAT I AM NOT SURE HOW TO LIST MY INCOME OR DEDUCTIBLES. THE PREVIOUS YEAR TRANSFER IS GREAT. I LIKE THE ABILITY TO LOOK AT SEVERAL YEARS BACK ON SOME ITEMS. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. PS. YOU CAN ALWAYS LOWER THE PRICE TO MAKE THING EVEN BETTER
What's great about it: TRANSFERING LAST YEAR TAX INFORMATION
What's not so great: EXTRA COST TO FILE STATE BY E-FILE

Clergy Housing Entry & Error correction timing
on April 14, 2014
Posted by: TurboTax2785580
Housing: There is no way to deduct clergy housing cost from a pension provided by a Church Agency.
Error Demand at Last Minute: Why does program insist on fixing errors just before E-filing? Once error a single error is fixed one goes back through @ dozen screens to do the E-filing launch and be told of another error that stops the process
What's great about it: Carryover from last year, covers 99% of all tax situations
What's not so great: Poor support for those who live in employer provided housing

Use It Every Year since 1988

Tax time is a breeze, mostly because of the Basis and Capital carry forwards. Unlike Quicken, which seems to be getting progressively worse in form and function, TurboTax keeps getting better, with one exception. I would like the option to install a "plain Jane" version - I am getting tired of looking at the same people year after year and every time I open up the file - don't need pretty, just practical. Or, at least I would like an option to install that way.
What's great about it: Carry Forwards, data on computer, not on cloud.
What's not so great: No choice to not load the Intuit Update Service, interface too "pretty" for the needs.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

What's great about it: simple and quick
What's not so great: doesn't include auditing program for free

It seems like our taxes get more and more complicated every year. Despite all the politicians' talk of simplifying the tax code, it is more convoluted than ever! Turbo Tax definitely simplifies it and takes a lot of the guesswork out of doing it. We had many forms to file and it went quite smoothly with TT as it always does #about 10 years running, for me#. I think the Schedule K support could be better, but in all honesty, the tax code is so bizarre that it would be almost impossible to support every possible outcome. Also, I seemed to have a glitch at the end where it kept asking for information for a Schedule K1 worksheet that had nothing on it. Otherwise, as usual, Turbo Tax got the job done easily and neatly. At this point... I don't know how I would get taxes done without Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Better Schedule D now, Easy to Use, Quick at Importing Data
What's not so great: Glitch with Schedule K-1, Covered vs Non-Covered Sales could be clearer
Pros: I bought or sold investments
