Pretty good

One of the questions I stumble on every year is "Does your employer provide child care on site?" Well they do, but I don't take advantage of it. I think the question is trying to ask if I use child care from my employer, but technically I should answer the question yes because they do provide it, just not to me. It drives me nuts. Couldn't really find a direct answer online either at the help center. Asked a friend and also figured with common sense that it meant answer yes if I used the onsite child care.
What's great about it: Easy, makes me feel confident - it is thorough.
What's not so great: Some questions need explanation
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

There are sections on VT form HS-122 that do not get filled out if your income exceeds the cap to qualify. Even though you do not qualify these amounts are still required. I know lines B4 - B6 are required and possibly more. Please fix this error for next year.

I did my son's taxes with turbotax and we had an awful time. we hated turbotax this year this year.

All Went Well . . . Except . . .

Direct debit did not perform as expected. I could not enter the amount due on the Worksheet - though the slot was blue. It would allow me to use the spy glass and refered me back to the Amount Due on the 1040.
What's great about it: Fast and very easy

Have used Turbo Tax year after year and it never fails to successfully remove most of the stress. If you have the info, it's so easy!
What's great about it: Easy and walks through the form with helps
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Worked less Paid More

For the last five years I have been using turbo tax and usually get a federal refund but pay State taxes. This year I had to pay federal income tax and about 2.5 times more in State taxes. I am seriously considering the use of a CPA next year.
What's great about it: Easy to make entries
What's not so great: Could use assistance with State Income tax planning
