The best software I've ever used. It does what it says, makes life easier, downloads latest updates, asks for basic information and takes care of the rest!

I have used TT for 15 years and it has become more user friendly each year. Still needs better explanations when it comes to entering some data like 1099-R. I do like the steps for minimizing taxes and finding alternative savings.
What's great about it: Fairly Comprehensive Program
What's not so great: Did not import all financial institution information such as 1099-B trades

9th Year and still filing with Turbo Tax

I have used Turbo Tax for the last nine years to file my federal and state returns. I like the ability to e-file with quick turn-arounds on my refunds. The ease of filing an extension is a plus when I have needed it. This year I needed to file for another state; getting that state was absolutely no problem.
What's great about it: Quick explanations of qualified deductions with examples
What's not so great: None so far.

Entering Stock and Option Trades

Yet another way this year to enter buy and sell totals on stock and option trades, some of which I did separately rather than use the summary method. However, I thought it was a huge omission for TurboTax not to calculate the gain/loss, which I use as a double check whether I entered the buy and sell amounts correctly. TurboTax, PLEASE PUT THAT FEATURE BACK NEXT YEAR!
Also, on two different summary pages (one showing 2013 only, the other showing 2013 vs. 2012), all entries for 2013 matched except ones related to Other Deductions. One was what it was supposed to be, the other was wrong (a fairly large negative number). The error persisted even after the two sets of error checks.
What's great about it: Nice that this year allows entering summary info
What's not so great: Although I had to dig to find the exemptions and whether a seprate statement had to be sent with return or separate.

The Only way to file taxes.

Great for ensuring that everything is reported on the proper line and form. Great for reminding one of potential deductions that might otherwise be missed. Helps me with entering data for both of our businesses.
The only con:
If I forget to input a business expense, It is somewhat cumbersome to walk back through all of the question pages and have to RE-answer some of the questions to get to the place of entry. ( not all of the answers are saved if you go back through again).

With Turbo Tax, there is no need to pay for so-called experts.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is so easy to use. The software guides you through the whole process.
