Managed to get through 2013 tax season!

With charity contributions ended up not deducting some donated household items as I could not find them under your valuations aid - and the categories need to be re-written as not entirely logical, and the whole process was too exhausting to do as my own deduction amounts. Then after I had carefully gone through my entire charity deductions I was asked to input the address of each charity - Why could this not be done when inputting the first time? It meant digging out the paperwork a second time!
What's great about it: Some of the explanations re what forms/what required were helpful
What's not so great: Order sequence of questions sometime extremely annoying and involved duplication of effort

Went Well

I've used Turbo Tax quite a bit in the past. Once, just once, I used the other less than major program. It was OK but when I got to the "city" return section I was rather disappointed - IT WASN'T THERE. This was in the days before the city had their tax information on-line. Yes, I had to do it myself. That was the one and only time I did not use Turbo Tax. Thanks guys, you have a great product.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Didn't do everything I.wanted. Didn't e-file the city return.

Making it as Painless as Possible

I am usually not much of a procrastinator, until it comes to doing my taxes. I would rather clean the oven, or the garage... well, you get the point. I've used TurboTax for over twenty-five years and the process always goes as quickly and problem-free as is possible when dealing with the complicated and convoluted tax system we have.
I love how TurboTax takes me methodically through each possible income and deduction situation so I don't miss anything. Answers to common questions are easily found, usually through a link on the page I'm working on. And all the work is checked for errors and potential red flags.
Yep, doing taxes is a real pain, but it's a whole lot easier with TurboTax.

Have been using TurboTax for some time. It does what it says it will do and keeps it all in one spot. Only thing better would be no taxes.
What's great about it: Easy to follow instructions
What's not so great: Like everything, hard to use with Windows 8

Overall my experience was good. I have been using Turbo Tax for 8 years now and I have no complaints.
What's great about it: transfers last years info automatically
What's not so great: could use better explanations in help section

Missing items

I live in Wisconsin and work in Illinois. Turbo Tax demanded that I buy the Illinois Income Tax form besides the Wisconsin Income Tax form and file Illinois State Tax even though there is a reciprocal agreement between the two states. "If you received wages, salaries, tips, and commissions from Illinois employers, you are not required to pay Illinois Income Tax
on this income. This is based on reciprocal agreements between Illinois and these states." according to the State of Illinois website. Turbo Tax should know this but doesn't.
