I was perturbed over the excessive push by TurboTax to generate more profit for your product. In particular, you made it difficult to e-file the federal return without e-filing the state return (for an additional fee). Your fee for e-filing the state return is excessive.
What's great about it: Overall this is a good tool for quickly doing my taxes
What's not so great: To much pushing for additional funds to TurboTax

Easy to Use

Generally TurboTax is easy to use with clear instructions while entering the information. The only problem I encountered was getting the proper state deduction from my NYS pension on my state income tax forms. It took several tries before I was able to have the exemption transfer to the state forms. The rest of the program worked exactly as I expected.
What's great about it: Relative ease in entering information, Much more economical than income tax preparation services
What's not so great: A little confusing when entering pension information

I've used Turbo Tax for the last 5-6 years and it makes filing so much easier than packing up all our info and lugging it to a tax preparer. I can prepare my taxes any time day or night in the comfort of my own home. It's also so easy to use, the program walks you thru everything.

Deductions/money saved good, install bad

Instead of going with the same accountant I've had for the past few years, I chose Turbo Tax and actually got a refund for the first time in a few years!!!
The installation proved to be the most difficult part of the whole process. I am an IT Professional, and it still took me the better part of a day to get around the "You must be an administrator" error, and the Support Page had quite a few entries from users with the same error.
Once the software was installed though, it was almost terrifyingly efficient and user friendly. If the software installation hadn't taken me four times as long as the actual tax preparation, I'd give it 5 stars!
I'll definitely be using Turbo Tax for a long time to come!
What's great about it: Found a ton of deuctions and way cheaper than last year's accountant
What's not so great: Really, really hard to install, support page wasn't great

What's great about it: dialogue based (walked me through) instead of reading obtuse instructions
What's not so great: A little worried when the program crashed when one of the "more information" links (tried about 3 times crashed each)

Years ago it took me days to do my taxes. Every additional tax deduction I found meant multiple recalculations. Glad those days are over!

A complex return

Everything worked well and the results appear to be correct and legal. Would like to have list of charities alphabetized to cut chance of duplications and making data entry easier.
What's great about it: Coordiantes all portions of 3 returns
What's not so great: Data Entry takes a lot of time

I haven't used TurboTax in many a year. I had been using an accountant to do them, but in the last 3 years I have been doing them manually. I did them again this year manually and didn't like the end result. Too big of a federal tax bill, so I gave Turbo Tax a shot and went thru the program. Some of the itemized deductions that I skipped due to complicated or tedious paperwork, ended up being used in the program saving me an extra $900! I'll never make that mistake again. I'm sold on TurboTax.
What's great about it: The program has great detail.
What's not so great: A few items are hard to get inserted if you've done it manually in the past.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
