Like a Walk in the Park

Initially pretty easy to use for beginner or for the advanced user. I like that it checks everything out for you and transfers data from the year before. I make tax time less stressful.
What's great about it: Transfers data from previous year
What's not so great: Slow download and install when updates are available

Develop a separate generic program covering all aspects of the form into which entries can be made throughout the year and then only downloaded/transferred to the tax form via an updated link.
What's great about it: Easy and through job
What's not so great: It's Decuctible difficult to navigate and not comprehensive enough.

Turning up the Turbo!
on April 14, 2014

I have used TurboTax for at least the past 6 years. I am divorced, in my 50's, consider myself a professional and a true Sagittarius-meaning I procrastinate! Every year I get a tax refund and every year I have to push myself to find the time to do them! But fortunately, TurboTax takes away the stress of being a "last minute filer" because of its simplicity, it's easy to understand format and the convenience of e-file. Thanks TurboTax for Turning up the Turbo and helping me to file it Quick!!!
What's great about it: Fast and Easy!
What's not so great: haven't found any yet!

TurboTax 2013

We had distributions of pension funds in 2013 following the death of my father-in-law. There were 3 1099-R forms. The initial entries were straight forward but the followup questions were not. There was a suggestion (true?) that we could spread the sums out over several years and I think I did that for one but not the others. I expect we might hear from the IRS.
My wife is Chair of a non-profit and had expenses beyond cash contributions or travel. There seemed to be no good entry point for this.
We had a long list of charities that will be carried over to next year with additional ones then. I wish there was some way to alphabetize the list.
What's great about it: OK on the routine stuff
What's not so great: 1099-R forms for deceased relative. Charities.

Transfer of previous dependent problem
on April 14, 2014
Posted by: PADHC
TurboTax is usually great. However, this year the import of the previous data created a 'hidden' link to last year's REMOVED dependent. Since that dependent filed their own tax this year, this caused OUR filing to be rejected because of a duplicate dependent!
The last attempt to fix this (after deleting all forms with "Child", such as 2441, was to *add* a bogus dependent, save the whole thing, then re-open and delete that bogus dependent. This has been reported to sometimes fix this issue.
What's great about it: Quick & Easy Guide mode
What's not so great: Bad data difficult to identify & deal with.
