I receive a K-1, Oil & Gas- that the company has now changed to a substitute 1099 (misc) TTAx is no help.....
Medical expenses...There should be a way to print up a guide on to how to assemble/categorize medical docs to enter in TTAX...

What's great about it: The usual easiness of filling in the blanks
What's not so great: 2013 edition (download ver) seemed to slow the computer and lock up at times

I'm retired and using TurboTax to do my own taxes helps me learn the tax code so I know how to better plan retirement distributions and spending for the years ahead.
What's great about it: Teaches me tax rules so I can better plan retirement distributions
What's not so great: Can't think of any

I HAVE USED TURBO TAX FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE EVEN GONE TO A TAX PREPARER AND THEY GOT THE SAME RESULTS, BUT AT A MUCH HIGHER COST. I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THE DETAILED WALK THROUGH OF THE ALL THE AREAS COVERED AND LIKE THAT YOU CAN EITHER GO THROUGH STEP BY STEP OR PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT AREAS YOU NEED TO FOCUS ON. MANY OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS USE TURBO TAX AS WELL AND HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH IT.
What's great about it: easy to use & understand. good explanations for catagories
What's not so great: can be time consuming

Simple, straightforward guidance with the option of selectively hitting only those areas necessary. Easy e-file and good contact/tracking options. Will use again next year.
What's great about it: straightforward navigation, good on-line help
What's not so great: none so far
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I think that the program is intuitively easy to use and well organized. I was able to complete both federal and state returns with few problems.

Easy to Use

I've been using Turbo Tax for over ten years and its the easiest program to use. Just plug in the numbers and it does the rest. No math or fumbling for calculators. The program even double checks and asks you if you have forgotten any deductions. I feel this is the best program for the money out there. It makes doing your taxes fun. Can't wait until next tax year.

Don't file too soon

The initial draft of my state return prepared in mid-February included an incorrect penalty. The final draft, prepared in April, did not include the incorrect amount. So the apparent conclusion is to file returns later rather than sooner.
What's great about it: Picks up from previous year
What's not so great: Initial programs are incorrect
