Have used Turbo Tax for 15 years...glad my friend got started using it...gathering data is same for DIY or TT....the instructions from the IRS are difficult to use...not so with TT
What's great about it: ease of use, drill downs
What's not so great: had to wait for forms to be finalized---an IRS issue
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2013 - Worst year for TT ever!

The Federal portion seemed to proceed fine. When it came time to transfer and start my Mississippi return, the wheels came off. Turbo Tax transferred non-existing forms and then demanded that I fill in information that didn't exist. Now I am worried that the Federal portion has problems that won't manifest until I get audited. I still haven't filed my MS return. Fortunately, I have a refund due, so I should be alright for the short term.
What's great about it: Federal seemed OK
What's not so great: State (MS) program was virtually useless

Best & easiest yet!

I chose the time payment and was then led to a page to determine if I wanted auto draws or pay by checks. I chose auto draws with the first one being for $XX.XX and the remainder spread over several months.
I was under the impression the first pmt was going to be auto-draw. So I was quite surprised when I was instructed to print a payment voucher for the same amount with instructions as to where to send it. WEIRD and I have no clue how to determine if there is really going to be an auto-draw. I certainly can't afford to do BOTH!
What's great about it: Easy steps to follow
What's not so great: Conflicting instructions regarding initial payment

printing nightmare
on April 14, 2014

Could not find mail option for state return after federal e-file! when trying to print state return for mailing, both state and the already printed federal return were printed. also both federal printings included four sheets for estimated tax mailings which I have never done! What a waste of expensive paper.
What's great about it: Almost everything worked well
What's not so great: Not so printing state return for mailing
