Foreign dividends and foreign taxes paid instructions and help topics were confusing and cumbersome. One help topic said if I detailed the amount by country, which I did, it would deduct directly from taxes paid. Mine were listed as an itemized deduction which just changes the taxable amount,,,,,,,not directly from taxes paid.
What's great about it: easy, specific and detailed
What's not so great: help topics are cumbersome

Alert tax preparer that the RMD portion , if applicable, of a distribution from 401k or IRA should be identified below.
What's great about it: Easy to shift from step by step to Forms
What's not so great: Need a Search feature on the Menu for specific item within a group

I have use turbo tax for many years and I like it a lot.Not expensive either.
What's great about it: the easiest way to file my taxes-even better now that I am retired and not well.
What's not so great: too much paper forms I don't need
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall an easy experience. I've been using this program for serveral years.
What's great about it: Easy
What's not so great: The extra downloads after I began preparing my taxes.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Couldn't File Electronically

I'm a long-time user of TurboTax. I am very happy with the program and have recommended it to many, many others.
But this year when I tried to file electronically, the transmission failed repeatedly, even after updating the software. I visited your website and as I was waiting for one of your reps to anwer the phone, I stumbled on the advice to empty my Trash and restart my (Mac) computer. Had I not inadvertently found this fix, I would be mailing in my return.
The electronic filing feature is a big reason for buying TT. I got the impression that this problem is unique to Macintosh computers. There is no reason where an error such as this one should not have been caught and corrected in beta testing of the current edition of the program.
What's great about it: Great, easy to use app for tax preparation
What's not so great: Fragile code prevented electronic filing
