Easy Tax Returns

I have used turbo tax for over a decade. Always great, step by step easy, breezy!
What's great about it: Step by step
What's not so great: tax season

2013 update review

TT is very clunky for those who wish to donate funds from an IRA to Charity.
It's never clear whether the "gross distribution" and ultimately the taxes considers donations from "gross distributions."
What's great about it: Easy to enter data; calculations generally correct,
What's not so great: I had to print the returns and "file with government". TT should say "local only)

A Pleasent Experience

Very easy to use and complete. Would suggest an introduction to the "standard deduction" before I spend all the time listing the various itemized items, i.e., what is my target for contributions, etc. If it's there already, I missed it.
What's great about it: Very easy entry and improved importing.
What's not so great: Standard deduction could be improved

I use TurboTax because ...........

We only use Turbo Tax for our income tax filings because we purchased both Turbo Tax and HR Block once to see if they both had the same result. HR Block provided a higher return than Turbo Tax so we filed using the HR Block return. The IRS later sent us a collection notice for interest and penalties for filing an incorrect return. The IRS indicated we should had been refunded less and the amount they indicated we should had received was the exact amount the Turbo Tax return indicated. Since that time we only use Turbo Tax - plus - it is easy to use.
What's great about it: IRS audit showed no errors

Kentucky State Sales Tax

Overall: Excellent software. I just thought that since I downloaded the Kentucky State software so late that all the updates would have already been included. No real problem. It just took me a few minutes to figure out how to do a manual update and that worked out ok.
What's great about it: Was able to work through this.
What's not so great: Initally was not able to get sales tax because software had not auto updated when I down loaded state on 04/13/2014.

I fully expected to pay additional taxes. With Turbo Tax guidance I received a refund from both Federal and State returns. This is outstanding to me. I have used Turbo Tax for years but this effort was outstanding.
