Last years state tax refund wasn't counted as income because a required value wasn't entered on the refund worksheet. It was never requested and was only noted during one of the checks. When this value was entered the federal tax due jumped by $400. Didn't notice this immediately and had to go back and rework the return to figure out what happened.
My return had federal tax due and a state tax refund. Turbotax recommended that I take the standard federal deduction rather than use itemized deductions. Doing so reduced federal taxes by $12 and increased state taxes by $124. I would not have caught this if I hadn't run both scenarios. TurboTax didn't catch it.
What's great about it: Seems thorough
What's not so great: Slow and cumbersome

Easy Enough

I've used TT for years and liked it. Maybe it's just me - or the tax laws are getting more complex - but using TT seems to be getting a bit less easy.
What's great about it: Quick and complete
What's not so great: Entry of 1099-B is a bit confusing

Great as Usual!!

I thought everything went great this year with no problems that I could see in filing. Maybe next year we can get the first state return e-fie could be free like the federal return.
What's great about it: All of it....made filing my return very easy
What's not so great: None that I could see other than maybe charging for the e-file of state return.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

When I tried to e-file federal taxes the program kept saying it could not verify, to updates and try again.
After several failed attempt, I ended up mailing forms.
