Unable to connect error 42002
on April 14, 2014
Posted by: edzbox
Please update your next version of TT to include a check to verify that Internet Explorer is being used when attempting to connect to the internet. A simple warning message to the millions of us who do not use IE would have saved me a lot of wasted time trying to troubleshoot this error 42002.
What's great about it: Easy transfer of last year's tax info.
What's not so great: Exclusive use of Internet Explorer

confusing questions
on April 14, 2014
Posted by: slsroach
I generally love TurboTax and have used it for years. This year, though, there were several questions that were worded in confusing ways, so that when I answered them the way I thought I should, the following pages made less and less sense and the resulting effects on my taxes were all wrong (such as more taxes owed for a deduction situation.) When I went back (over and over) until I figured out which question made the difference and then answered that question the opposite of what I had before, things worked better.
What's great about it: Guided pages that take you through everything. Very little to "hunt down."
What's not so great: This year there were several questions that were confusing.

Makes Taxes An Easier Chore
on April 14, 2014
Posted by: jonbee50
I have done my own taxes forever (since 1966) and this makes the chore more like a game as I just have to have all of the pertinent information and plug it into the correct spaces--no more capital gains calculations or any calculations actually (unless you want to double check TurboTax's calculations!). Also, easy to file and print and store on computer for future reference...it's all good.
What's great about it: clear, concise directions, leads you through the entire process
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Long time user of Turbo Tax
on April 14, 2014

I have been using this product for years (even before it was called Turbo Tax) and have never had a problem. E-filing makes things that much easier. If you have all your info ready you can complete your taxes in less than a hour.
What's great about it: Never have to guess what forms are needed. No math required. Retains info from previous returns.
What's not so great: None I know of. Might not be for you if you own your own business or have unusal deductions.

tax exempt interest
on April 14, 2014
Posted by: dickxx
If you make a mistake in ppicking a state rather than many states it is very difficult to repair. I have a a tax exempt interest fund that is partially exempt in my state. I have to enter it twice in order to get it right for state and feds. This is a pain!
What's great about it: overall good
What's not so great: tax exempt

EE Savings Bonds
on April 14, 2014
Posted by: Neddyboy
Prior years withTurbo Tax asked specific questions regarding redemption of EE Savings Bonds and if they were used for qualified education expenses. Not this year. Very confusing.
What's not so great: No explaination on redemption of EE Savings Bonds
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
