Always use Turbo Tax. I am a CPA (although not a tax guy) and use it all the time for my personal taxes.

I have used this program now for several years. Each year I get a message telling me that I will get 1 free state tax filing. However, I have always had to pay the state filings for each filing I do.
What's great about it: Program is a great program and walks you through every category
What's not so great: Have to pay for all state filing regardless

Would like a different interface

It would be nice to enter Federal forms (Like 1099Q for example) where I could just go through my pile of papers and enter them all at once. Like 1099 int, 1099 misc, etc.
That way I would not have to keep sifting through my pile of papers over and over. Just enter all forms and then walk me through and ask me any other questions that come up.
What's great about it: Carries over info and has many answers
What's not so great: Had federal forms left over

I found it odd that this product didn't ask whether I purchased a home in the "home" section. I had to dig in order to deduct the points.
Also, I've been using TurboTax for many years and have noticed how it seems to be getting cute and less serious in its appearance and tone; I would expect that to most, filing their taxes is serious and less of a joke.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

I've been using TurboTax for years--very disappointed with the extra STATE form cost. It used to be FREE and part of the program.
What's great about it: Federal return self-explanatory
What's not so great: State return extra cost
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

Good experience

I do like the product and the ease of use to get the job done. I have used TurboTax for 9 years now and being able to bring in my past returns to complete current return is a big plus. However, the costs of continued use will be something I will need to look at next year. By the time I paid for software and all associated fees, I could have used a preparer and not have spent a day to get this done.
What's great about it: I've been using TurboTax for years and the historical imports are a big plus. Software is easy to use.
What's not so great: Cost for software and fees go up every year - this year was too high and will need to evaluate future use.

I really like being able to complete my taxes so quickly with a high level of confidence in the accuracy.
