First Rate Software

Each year it seems to be improved in terms of speed over the prior year, and I've been using it for more than a decade and a half.
What's great about it: Quick, complete, well documented, updated as needed
What's not so great: a bit cryptic on discussion of deductible investment expenses

Annoying Lack of Feature

Had to restart my return two times since I made and error and could not undo the last action I took. Had to revert to the last saved version of the return file.

I was very disappointed with this years turbo tax. I have used it for over 10 years. On my state return I was stuck in a loop that I could only get out of by closing the program and staring over. Program wanted to file when I had not entered my out of state purchases or completed the interview. Bug went straight to review and file. I had to file a 740X. Not sure I will use it next year. Time for a competitor's product.
What's great about it: Thorough on most topics
What's not so great: Trying to find a payment voucher for 1040 not easy
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Good for most, doesn't address some of the simple

For most of the basics, it is very good. Questions don't always get answered so there is a need to find answers elsewhere. Search of other's questions and answers is very helpful and can give an idea for one's unique situations.
Does not address the need for the most simple of Special Needs/Supplemental Needs Trusts. I am guessing that most of these types of trusts cannot afford the necessary upgrade so they are prepared in an alternative fashion.
What's great about it: Intuitive step-by-step interview process and population from prior years filings
What's not so great: Doesn't allow filing for the very basic Special Needs Trusts of our most vulnerable citizens

It is hard to make corrections when an error is found in the error check.
What's great about it: Mostly easy

Why no e-mail filing?

Like your program. However, worked my mom's filing (she is 97 with zero income (social security only) but with medical expenses. Turbo Tax program had me mail in the return. Was a surprise.
What's great about it: easy to fill out
What's not so great: explanation of why not allowed e-file missing.
